Looks like it's growing into a monster.
Major, mandatory evacuations on the west coast of FL.
Looks like it's bands will pretty much cover all parts of the State.

Anyone here live in FL? If so, be safe.
The Mrs and my daughter are in FL right now. They're on the East coast so we're hoping it won't be too bad. Currently calling for 60+ MPH winds and 4-8" of rain in their area. They're as prepared as the can be.

They were scheduled to be in Orlando starting today and for the next 3 days. They bought/have "non-refundable" tickets. The Mrs called the resort yesterday to discuss cancellations. Without hesitation, the resort said we can/will cancel your reservation and give a full refund. The resort representative went on to say that they actually appreciate the cancellation since they're expecting a large influx of people coming in from the Tampa due to the evacuations there and honestly, those are the people that need rooms.

They've just updated it as approaching a cat-5 with sustained winds of 155mph.
Center to hit Fort Myers.
Eeek!

I'm on the computer but have the TV on and watching The Weather Channel.
Unfortunately, it's tracking more eastward. That puts the Mrs. & daughter in the track area and now under a hurricane warning. :( Also under tornado and flooding watches.

I saw that also. I have friends who are snow birds and have a beautiful 65 ft 5th wheel camper in that area. I hope it's not to late for them to vamoose that area. Same for Mrs BC and daughter.

What area are they in with that camper? If they were on the west coast, I'd hope they hooked up and took off in a south east direction.

The Mrs & daughter are doing well. Staying put. Forecast for them is the same as yesterday. 60 MPH wind and 4-8" of rain. Where they are "should" handle those conditions without issue. The weak point is that they didn't hang the hurricane shutters so the windows are the weak point of their preparedness.

Man.. I was watching some of the coverage on CNN.
The expert weather dude was on there talking to Don Lemon about it.
Lemon tries to sneak in the climate change topic.
The weather guy basically shut him down.
Hello??? Florida/hurricanes.
Climate change?
🙄😄

They are south west of Orlando. Not in the high wind area but going to be hit with more than they had expected. They are not down there yet so no shutter or protection for the 5th wheel. They are heading down next week.

If they were south west of Orlando today, it would suck. Since they're not coming down for a week, it should be fine as the hurricane will be long gone. They should call the place they're going in FL before leaving to find out if their site is good to go.

The Mrs and daughter are fine. The eye of the storm passed about 30 miles north of their location. Since most of the rain was north and west of the eye, there was no flooding, damage or otherwise where they are. Power flickered a couple times but remained on.

Yeah, they are in contact with friends already down there.
