Hunter "Anslee" model Ceiling Fan installation ... nice light, stupid assembly process

Updating some of our light fixtures, so we decided to buy a couple ceiling fans for the extra bedroom.

Looked at a lot and decided that we'd buy 2 Hunter Anslee model low profile ceiling fans with integrated lights. They have a fairly sleek design, modern but sort of retro at the same time. Got a white one for one of the rooms and a burnished bronze finish for the other.

Normal ceiling light takes about an hour to change out, maybe 90 minutes. That includes removing the old fixture, assembling and installing the new one. Not this model. I do like it. But damn, what a P.I.T.A. to install. Each of them took me 2 days to install. Largely because of arthritis. I can only work over my head for modest amounts of time, and just installing the 5 fan blades can take an hour.

Each blade has 3 screws to attach it and its very straight forward, but the tolerances are so sloppy that it may take 2 minutes to install one blade and 20 to get up then next blade simply because the screw won't line up, falls onto the bed, bounces off the bed, hits the carpet and is lost until a bare foot "finds it" unexpectedly after crawling around looking for it.

Installed a couple new controllers while I was at it, figured after 15 years it was reasonable to do both.

Would I recommend these? Yes. Nice fan. If the design suits you, go for it.

Have the bourbon ready for after you are done because you will have cause to celebrate the completion of the task. Make sure kids are out of the house, they will likely learn new curse words during the installation process. Band-aids are not required for this home improvement project.

I probably should NOT have snapped the photo with the fan running on HIGH speed. Sorry about that. It doesn't wobble, that blur is my shaking hand.

I cannot believe how many times I had to retrace steps to insert a part the instructions omitted when installing similar fans two years ago.

Some of the parts are in my dresser drawer but the fans still operate.

I think one issue is the translators do not exactly tell the instructions as they should but in word for word translations the concepts are missing.

I have to replace one in one of our spare bedrooms. Probably go with something very similar to what you installed.

I too have one to do in the spare bedroom. We'll probably go with something similar. I think that I'll call the electrician. :)
