How high do I mount my range hood ?

I want to install a range hood but I'm not sure how high above the stove to mount it. Is there a standard height ?
 
Do you have any cabinets above the stove?

I just checked mine and it's 24" from the burners to the bottom of the range hood.
 
No, Down the road I planned to make a copper cover for the hood.
