Honoring a Hero

I received the following as part of a city wide email. Though I am not a resident of this very small town, I have worked here for 17 years. This young man has been highly spoken of by many of the folks I work with and have come to know. The whole town is kind of numb; the grief is evident and palpable.
Please keep this man, his family and this small town in your thoughts today.

Good Morning All,

I was asked on behalf of the committee making arrangements for the processional to honor Sgt. Joey Montgomery to pass along this information to everyone.

SGT. JOEY MONTGOMERY INFORMATION

His body will be arriving at Freeman Field in Seymour on Tuesday, May 29 (today) at 4:15 pm. Seymour City police will escort the body to the Interstate. The body will also be escorted by a State Trooper, a Scott County Sheriff’s dept representative, the Honor Guard, Don Collins, the Family and the Patriot Riders. Scottsburg City Police will pick up the Fallen Soldier Processional, they will also have the roads blocked off.

The processional will go down 56, around the square, down Wardell and onto Elm street ending at Collins Funeral Home.

There will be no viewing on Tuesday.

Visitation – United Methodist Church
Wednesday, 4-8 pm & Thursday 9-11 am

The funeral will be at 11 am on Thursday.

The funeral processional will go down Honeyrun Parkway to 56, around the square, down Wardell to Elm and enter the cemetery from the Elm street entrance.

The Patriot Riders will escort this processional as well and be stationed throughout.

For anyone interested there has been a fund set up at Edward Jones for Sgt. Montgomery’s children.

I will say a pray for this hero and his family . I only wish and pray that the Dear Lord has a special place near his side for our fallen soldiers .

Amen

Very sad. I saw a very moving news blip honoring some of our other fallen heros that was very well done. God speed to all.

I will keep him and his family in my prayers.
