Home security system

We have outgrown our current home security system and are looking to upgrade. There are lots of companies advertising in our area: ADT, Alarm Force, CPI, AHS, etc.

My current system is wireless and has worked well for several years. I would stick with it, but I'm adding an addition and don't have room for additional window/door sensors or motion detectors.

Anyone have a recommendation as to a good company or a company I should avoid?

Thanks, Bob

I would recommend our company, but don't think it would do any good as they are local only.

I will say I'm really happy with the system we had them install. It is a GE Wireless system. You have the typical door/window sensors and then you can have motion detectors and glass breakage sensors. Of course you can also add the typical fire & water sensors as well. We bought the "upgraded" system which allows us to have multiple zones working from the same system that way we only have to pay one monitoring fee. I have the barn separate from the house. That way I can have the motion detectors armed on it even while we are at home. The battery on it will last between 24 & 36 hours. Batteries on the sensors will supposedly go about 3 years and they are the typical 2032s. I think we paid about $1200 for the system and $19.95 a month for monitor and you can add either Internet or Cellular monitor for $10 more per month. So far we don't have the cellular monitor, but thinking of adding it. It is through our local phone company which we also have our DSL and since we have 3 services bundled, we save $5 on each service a month.
