Very Pretty, Vin! I like it. I like the contrast of stone and brick. A very inviting front porch. Picture CB and me sipping beer with you and Mary. Mary and I will sip....you guys can guzzle.

It looks very nice Vin! I just looked at this again... is there a little screened in porch there on the left or what is that?

Congrats Vin. Looks very nice.

Are the housing prices down there like they are here? The good buys are out there ... all it takes is money. :D

Come on down CG, and anyone else that feels like a trip downunder!

Jeremy that little attachment on the veranda I am not sure really what it is but it will come down sooner rather than later. I will need to make a new post first. Will post a thread on that project when it happens.

The house is about 80 years old but is remarkably sound very little salt damp. It has a new roof but the rest of the house has had no work done on it in probably 40 years so the kitchen and bath room leave a lot to be desired. There will be no hurry to renovate as it is just a weekender, but one day Mary and I hope to retire there.

How can you afford this? I thought the farm wasn't doing well because of a water shortage. How much did the Obama campaign pay you to travel around the US 'fixing' voting machines?

Yep the farm is struggling and with even less water this year than the last two its not good, but I still have my job at a local engineering workshop. And mary's job is very safe. The money Obama paid me certainly helped purchase the house.:rolf2:
When are you coming downunder, I will show you how to catch fish if you do.

Pick a date, preferably in the middle of AusUK winter, and I'll be there. :thumb: But, I will NOT do any Aussie-style noodling!!! :dizzy:

Any time in May, June, July, Mary and I will take a couple weeks off to take you fishing and show you around South OZ, just let us now.

Dodge tides so no fishing yet but plenty of festive work. I started the veranda column, I have now made the mould ready to pour the concrete on my next visit.
First I put a thin strip of clay each side of the column on the center line then I painted a thin layer of latex over the whole thing.

Then over the latex I fiberglassed each side up to the clay

Then the fiberglass peeled of easy.

The latex removed leaving only the little bit of clay to wipe off with a damp rag
Easy so far.

going to cast the corner column in 2 pieces, or did you make the mould all the way around the column?
