LOL..I was half tempted to write something like from "the dateing game"--

"I'm 5'10", long hair, tattoos..etc, yadda yadda"

I've been involved in martial arts most of my life, currently studying jujutsu and Iaido.
I've been making knives since about 97', finally got serious about it in 01'.
I live in a van...down by the river:biggrin:

Actually, just yer everyday married american male. 3 dogs, no kids:smile:

Ya, that one took me awhile, it's made from 1 solid piece of A2.

I gave it to my grandfather back in 02'...he passed away in Jan.08'. I finally got it back and it's really all I have of sentimental value to remember him:sad:(lets just say I consider myself the last of my bloodline:angry3:)

I can make more like it, it's a very labor intensive style of knife. I don't wanna take personal business to the board though, email me if you're really interested:biggrin:

Hi Shep. I'm glad you wandered over this way. I thought you'd like it here. :thumb: :D

Enjoy and post often.

nice piece of burlwood you used for the scales.
did you temper the blade yourself or hire it out?
simple or differential temper?
belt or wheel grinder?
Fairly sure I can't afford one like it, but curous about the details.

oh, yeah - and welcome to the forums!

simple or differential temper? The entire knife is 60HRC. Unless I'm doing a knife with hamon. I don't feel the need to have a softer spine on a knife.

belt or wheel grinder?I have a belt grinder..and I have a few large wheels for it...why do you ask?

I'm curious why people ask detailed questions:smile:

because I've always liked sharp things and have made a couple myself - with the intent to do more of it once I have the space and spare time - and I appreciate good craftsmanship.

I've looked at the grizzly 2x72 grinder a few times but never had a place to put one.
Have done both hammer forging and stock removal, actually prefered to do 80% of the work with heat, hammer, and anvil then fine work with belt sander and files.
Coal is a lot of fun to work with, but will likely build a propane forge when I get back into it - more versatile, faster to heat, cleaner and less labor intensive. Can also use propane forge for small castings.

If you have a website, please PM me a link so I can see some of your other stuff?

I've forged a bit--knives not signatures:shifty: Started with coal, went to propane, much more clean alot less work.
The grizzly is fine for a hobby maker, if you get serious you'll want a better grinder.
When I finally realized there's no proformance advantage to forging vs. stock removal, I switched. Forging is fun though, Ill hammer on hot steel every now and then.
