Too everyone above who welcomed me - Thank you!!!
Nice people here- so far
Just kidding!!!
Well as for information.
I bought an old snowcat last summer, well actually i traded a mini excavator that i was trying to sell for it, and a bit of cash.
I found these guys up in the high sierras near tahoe, who live off grid pretty deep and they had several snowcats.
One or two were no longer being used, and needed some repairs.
Well my mini excavator wasnt in any better condition and since i didnt have anymore contracting work to do with it
, i tried to sell.
Nobody was buying. No matter what price. I offered it to trade, and found the snowcat guy and he came and looked at the ex and i went and looked at his cat- and deal was done.
This is what i picked up for approx $6000.
It is a Thiokol 2100C packmaster which has been modified and rebuilt in the past.
It has the 300 straight six, with the C6 trans and the heavy duty rear end, i think its a QC12?
The packmaster was modified with an added seat in the front and rhino lined interior. It will seat two easily up front.
A tilt back Passenger box was added on back and a seat for 2 more with room for gear. It is a simple plexiglass/ steel enclosure with racks.
Tracks were replaced with 72 grouser 1202 type, cut down to 36".
The rubber belting is badly weathered and these will need replacement.
That is where the "needs repairs" comes in.
This is going to be fun....
This 2100 has a 4 way blade up front and has been narrowed to match track width. Overall width has been reduced to 9'1". Still too wide to trailer fully tracked with blade. Both had to be removed to fit on my 10k equipment trailer.
Other than rubber belting, a couple of tires will need repairs and i also have to replace the hydraulic pump or rebuild- its shot.
Engine runs real good, steering, brakes and hydraulics as well.
We did drive it with tracks and blade, but not in the snow- it was summer.
Looks like i have some work to do.
