Hezbollah has 10x the firepower of HAMAS and tunnels dug into mountains

Hezbollah, the terror group that has defacto control over much of Lebanon, but technically is not in control of the Lebanese government, seems to have been spending their time building up a massive rocket armory and digging miles into mountains to create an underground control base in addition to a maze of transport and attack tunnels.

HAMAS may be almost wiped out, but it was isolated and tiny compared to Israel. Hezbollah will not be an easy target, its members are spread across Lebanon and Syria, plus the west bank. As a well funded proxy, and part of the Iranian axis, they will be much tougher for Israel to neutralize.

Hezbollah's tunnels are said to serve multiple purposes, including military operations, smuggling, and the storage of weapons.
A recent video posted by the terror group even revealed chilling snippets of hidden terror tunnel network from which missiles can be launched.
But the exact extent and current state of the underground networks are still not fully known to the public despite the eerie previews.
Lieutenant Colonel Sarit Zehavi, a former Israeli Defence Force intelligence analyst who has been studying Hezbollah for decades, told The Sun: “The risk has never been greater.
“Hezbollah has ten times the firepower of Hamas, with a total military force of 50,000 and up to 5,000 elite troops ready to storm across the border.
“They have built miles of tunnels connecting their forces and more attack tunnels to storm into Israel.
“They are cut into solid rock and bigger than the Hamas tunnels — some big enough to drive a truck through — with electric power and even air conditioning.
“But the biggest threat is posed by the sheer volume of their weapons arsenal. They have more than 200,000 rockets, guided missiles and drones."
Lieutenant Colonel Zehavi fears that Hezbollah may now have enough weapons to overwhelm the Iron Dome and David’s Sling air defences, which protect Israeli towns and cities.

“And once their attack starts, it could go on for months — at the same time as others from Iran, Syria, Iraq, Yemen, and from Gaza and the West Bank inside Israel," she said. . . .

Nothing can hide from the MOP.

I wonder if Israel has any of those?

They might need a dozen, or more, if the tunnels are under the Lebanese mountains.

I just hope they know where the biggest access points are located, because you'd think any sort of bunker buster, directed at the access points, should be able to collapse those points of entry/exit.

Israel needs to learn the word preemptive.
Hmmm....

Joel Pollack from Breitbart News is reporting that that Israel understands the word "preemptive"

Israel Launches Preemptive Strike on Hezbollah Before Major Terror Attack

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) announced early Sunday morning local time that it had launched a preemptive strike on Hezbollah positions in southern Lebanon to thwart a major imminent attack by the Iran-backed terror group.
Residents of northern Israel were advised to enter bomb shelters and “safe rooms” in their homes in anticipation of a response by Hezbollah. Israel’s missile defense system, notably the Iron Dome, was said to be intercepting rockets.
Israel’s Army Radio reported that residents were being advised to take shelter even in cities relatively far from the northern border, such as the port city of Haifa, which is in the north of the country but typically safe from rockets.
The Home Front Command prohibited public gatherings of over 130 people, from the Tel Aviv region northwards.
In a statement in Hebrew, IDF spokesman Rear Admiral Daniel Hagari said that the military had detected that Hezbollah was about to fire a large barrage of rockets and missiles into Israel. Therefore, he said, the Israel Air Force (IAF) had taken preemptive action. A response was expected from Hezbollah, and therefore he said that residents of the north should enter safe rooms for at least ten minutes. He stressed that Israel’s defenses were “not hermetic.”
Israel’s Army Radio reported that Hezbollah acknowledged that it had been about to attack, but claimed that it had, in fact, done so, prior to the Israeli airstrikes.
A more comprehensive briefing was expected.
Update: Hagari said in a public statement that the IDF would attackHezbollah “throughout Lebanon,” not just in the south as necessary. He repeated the restrictions on public gathering, and added that the Home Front Command had said people should not go to work in the northern region if they were far from a bomb shelter. “The defense is not hermetic, and therefore you should continue to listen to instructions from the Home Front Command,” he said.
Hagari concluded by saying that the IDF would do whatever was necessary to defend the citizens of Israel.
He added that Ben-Gurion airport had been closed but would reopen at 7 a.m. local time. He said that it would close again if necessary.
Asked whether the U.S. had provided intelligence that led to the preemptive strike, Hagari did not answer directly but said that Israel was cooperating with the U.S., and noted the arrival in the region Saturday of U.S. Joint Chiefs of Staff Chairman U.S. Air Force General Charles Q. Brown.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced that he would convene his security cabinet at the “Kirya,” the main IDF headquarters in Tel Aviv, at 7:00 a.m. Defense minister Yoav Gallant said that he had spoken with U.S. Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin and agreed on the need to avoid a broader regional escalation (presumably, involving Iran.)

Israel bombards Hezbollah targets in Lebanon in preemptive strike against terror attacks

Flights in and out of Tel Aviv were temporarily suspended as the preemptive strikes were taking place.

Israeli Defense Forces launched massive airstrikes early Sunday against Hezbollah targets in Lebanon to preempt what it said were imminent terrorist rocket attacks.
A short while ago, the IDF identified the Hezbollah terrorist organization preparing to fire missiles and rockets toward Israeli territory,” IDF spokesperson Daniel Hagari announced.
In a self-defense act to remove these threats, the IDF is striking terror targets in Lebanon, from which Hezbollah was planning to launch their attacks on Israeli civilians,” Hagari said.
