That is a military Snow Trac, not a lot of folks have those. But we do have a few members here who do. Hopefully one of those members will see your title and respond.

Can you (or someone else in the know) post some full photos so the uneducated Snow-Trac people (like yours truly) can see the difference between a military and civilian?

That would be cool. Thanks. :thumb:

There are several threads that show Military versions, if you do a few searches at the FORUMS and you will find the photos you are looking for. But as Mike outlined, most are canvas top versions, most have the fuel tank mounted over the driver's side tracks. They have a 24 volt system. They often have track splices mounted to the front fenders ahead of the lights.

You may want to look on Wikipedia, there is a page there that I wrote up (with the help of others here) that discusses Snow Tracs.

Here is a page that discusses the L6 Wombat on a Snow Trac:

Here is a page on Artillery Tractors, it also has a very brief mention of the Snow Trac:

ALSO. . . here on the ForumsForums is a thread to England's REME Museum's British Commando Snow Trac. This is a collection of photos of a Military Snow Trac that I was able to obtain and post here:

Nice one Paul, we should soon be able to tell some of the differences between military and commercial snowtracs! Not all the military ones were soft tops and not all had 24volt - that was for radio. Most had blinds fitted to cover the windscreen and the first side window when stationery and 'under cover'. These were rolled up on top of the cab when not in use. More later............
