If you do not find one let us know we are set up to make any axle.............

we would need your old one for the measurements

There are 4 Axels: Old and New style Snow Trac, Trac Master, and Snow Master. They are interchangeable from right to left, but not from one machine to another. They are soft iron, and if the spline gets loose or develops any play one has to replace the shaft and the gear or drum or hub riding on it. Using an old brake with a new shaft will usually result in the new shaft deteriorating quite rapidly. Generally only the outer end where the Brass sprockets for the track are gave trouble. If you choose to have them made you have to go to a Gear & Spline specialty shop, not just a regular machine shop. Even some of the better equipped machine shops send their gear and spline work out to specialists. Having them heat treated would not be a bad idea. The last ones I had made cost about 600$ ea. That was some years ago. I found lots of worn out shafts at Twin Pines Equipment on the east coast, at both dealers in Alaska, and in the collection of parts from Northwest Tell in Whitehorse. It was a weak area in the original design. The final attempts to correct this was to have a 2 piece clamp on hub at the outer end. This did seem to work but only shows up on the very last machines built. As of serial number aprox 1600 this had Not been corrected.

I am now wondering if my axle is actually twisted The splines were the inner most bearing rides seems to have flatened out the splines a bit on both axles. They seemed more squished towards the rear as that would be the area that gets pressure first. They are not worn out (bearings). Hmmmm I need to get the axles out. I will replace it if it is twisted at all. Just cant seem to get the axles out! My design is the later design with the two piece clamp style.

Using a board as a buffer, knock or hammer on the shaft one way and then hammer on it from the opposite end. It will eventually loosen up. Keep adding penetrating oil.

In a word: CHRISTER
Lyndon, from what I can tell, Christer does not deal with people outside of Europe. Anyone in Europe can get parts from him pretty easily, but I've not heard of anyone from North American who has been able to get parts from him within the past couple of years.

Christer returned my email yesterday. He said he has the parts and will get back to me. I will also send him a picture of my Axle shaft since we are not sure which part number it is. I have a parts manual from LYNDON I copied when I met him up in Washington. BUT I dont see the pictures of the vehicles he was reffering to. (Picture shows which machine the parts list is for) I will be going through all of my manuals today. One way or another I will get a new axle shaft.
