Hagglund BV206 questions

I purchased a Hagglund a couple weeks ago. It was out in a remote mountain area. I used a tow truck and snatch block to load onto a long 3 axle trailer. I didn't know if it would run. Had no keys. I actually loaded it in short order. After getting it home I found the batteries to be junk. Took the Ignition switch to lock specialist and he made a key. Put new batteries in it and thought here goes.It cranked terrific but no start. Mercedes powered. After searching the web for solutions I suspected the vaccuum controlled shutoff. I went out this morning disconnected it and it roared to life. I suspect the former owner who had passed away had it happen to him and that's why it sat there. OMG this is an extremely fun vehicle. All the words are in the vehicle are in Norwiegen. Im using my google translater to translate. However there is one lever that I cant figure out. It is a silver lever that is between drivers seat and engine compartment. It has three positions. No words of any kind around it. It hooks to the transmission linkage. Any help would be great. I will post picture when I download on computer. Thanks Rick
 
Transfer case shifter? (Complete wild-a$$ guess here, just based on your description of it hooked to tranny linkage.)

I'm guessing forum member DDS will know the answer to your question....

There's an outfit in Colorado called Safety One that seems to specialize in Haaglunds in terms of selling used ones. They may be able to help you as far as getting an operating manual (and/or service manual) in English.

There's also a fellow in Montana that modifies Haaglunds. If you Google "extreme haaglunds" I'm sure you'll find his website.

Disclaimer: I've never done business with either company. (The one in CO has (IMHO) a less-than-stellar reputation.)
 
yes it is a transfer case shifter. on hard ground the lever can be pulled up and you can get up to speeds of 40 klicks. in the center position it is neutral for towing, and in the bottom position it is low this is for creeping across rough terrain, or soft surfaces like soft snow or mud. if you feel resistance you need to shift it into low or you will smoke they transmission. 2 other things is there is a shrader valve on an accumulator at the back of the front cab by the coupler that needs to be charged with 100 psi shop air for the shock to properly dampen the oscillations between the front ands rear. the most important part is keep the bottom of the tub clean and check for fuel leaks around the injector return lines the single most common cause of these burning down is oil in the bottom of the tub the brakes will usually ignite it, because of the sparks thrown off of them. store it with drain plugs out but put them in when running to keep the tub clean. last question do you have the 5 cylinder model or the newer 6 cylinder model.
