Grouser Bar Replacement

Hey guys,

Just couldn't wait for the snow so I decided to drive the snowcat up on my driveway so I could work on it for the weekend. It was great having the tools nearby, though the driveway paid the price. Those ice picks don't slide well on a driveway, do they?

In this process I also broke a grouser. Thankfully I was given a few extra when I took delivery of the cat. However, the bolts are truly rusted - what a mess. I'd be surprised if I can get them off.

Any ideas for rusty bolt removal and grouser bar replacement?

Thanks!

Thanks

Use a 6 sided socket and over tighten it till it breaks! Thats the absolute easiest way. The next easiest way is with a cutting disk.

i removed all 976 nuts and bolts from my trackmaster tracks during the winter, watch the fingers if your using a hammer. if you have access to a cutting torch, be gentle, the rubber will catch fire a bit. cut-off wheels are tough due to angles, but work well when followed up by a cold chisel and punch. go with grade 8 hardware when you rebuild them. i just ordered enough grade 8 hardware to re-do both tracks, at a cost just under 500.00. have fun
