Wow great way to start off a new life, lets celebrate by blowing away relatives and loved ones. Including the grooms own father:sad:

Remind me to scratch "attend a Turkish wedding" off of my 'bucket list'

Three family members at a wedding in Turkey have been accidentally shot dead by the groom firing an AK-47 rifle in celebration.

The groom, Tevfik Altin, lost control of his rifle, spraying the guests with bullets and killing his father and two aunts and injuring six others, according to CNN Turk.

... Guns are often fired into the air in celebration in some parts of Turkey.

Thats sad really . But I,ve learned a new respect for guns the last 20 years or so when shooting . I,ve had 4 good friends of mine in the last ververal years that have been shot & 2 killed by stray bullets that had been fired in the air or from a long distance away .

I,ve allways been carefull , but even growing up out in the country I remember my dad firing his 300 H&H weatherby up in the air on the 4th of july & on new years eve . I had allways wondered where those bullets went  .

One friend was driving down 135 hiway & the bullet came down through the back window of his pickup killing him instantlly & causing a 3 car crash , at first they thought he had been shot from a low flying plane .

But a witness came forth a few days later that was shooting over a 1/2 mile away across the river & said it could have been one of there guns as it happened at about the same time they were target practicing . They ran a ballistics test & it was one of their guns that shot him . I dont beleive any charges were ever brought though

Sorry it just reminded me of that & really bothers me when I see all those folks in other countrys firing the weapons in the air .

I spent 18 months in Turkey in the USAF. Those guys get to drinking that Raki, and their brain turns to peanut butter. The shooting was not something I remember, but that was almost 40 years ago and I'm sure the culture has changed. Raki hangovers are a bitch! (don't ask how I know)
