Green Pepper plants from seed

Will they produce...I saved seeds from store bought green peppers...dried them and put them in the freezer..Do you think they will produce..if i plant them..B,

Who knows...if the peper you got them from is a hybred they may not germanate or they might revert back to one of the orignal varietys......one way to find out....plant em and see what ya get!!!! Have fun:smile:

More than likely the store bought peppers were a hybrid so you do not know what you will get when they come up, but it will not be the same as what you got the seed from. They will be a pepper but not the same variety.

They might even produce eggplant.:yum:

I save a lot of seeds from bought vegetables etc. I have frequently grown peppers like that, but I save the seeds, let them dry out in a saucer then store them in a packet. I have not tried freezing them, but they should be all right in theory. Try it and see, you haven't lost anything if it doesn't work, but could get something for nothing!! I have in the greenhouse at the moment some melons growing in pots - initially I planted them in some compost and put a poly bag over the pot, holding it in place with a rubber band, and put them on the kitchen windowsill. When they germanated I took the poly bag off and left them a couple of days, then they were moved to the greenhouse and a couple of days later transplanted them into a pot each - so far, so good. I have grown apple trees, oak trees, lemons and pomegranites. I have a couple of palm trees just sprouting and have even grown a date stone - it took about eighteen months to germinate, but it is growing. I like experimenting, and as I say, if it doesn't work, you haven't lost anything. Can produce piccys of the plants, if you like. Go for it..............

I'm not sure but I don't think they want to be frozen.

Ice Queen- that's cool all the things you've grown ! I do the same thing. Have orange and lemon plants, avacado and a southern yellow pine tree ( about 800 miles from it's range). Used to have some bald cypress I started from seed.
I'll have to try pomegranite ! Glad I'm not the only nut trying to grow every seed I find !

We are not having much luck with the green seeds from last year but the ones from the red bell pepper are growing well. We started a lot of ours from last years seeds and seem to have good germination so far. Have a ton of tomatoes anywhere from seedlings to 52 inches tall and flowering.

Glad to see you folks are growing stuff from the seeds of bought food. I'm going to be giving this a go myself here soon. Would love to grow pumpkins, but i will have to buy the seeds for that!
