goverment contract work

working woman

New member
Does anybody know how to or have connenctions on landing a job with the goverment doing contract work?

Just found out through a client that the goverment has people in my line of work to go to Iraq and work with the troops. You work two months there and two months home. ect. I asked the girl how she knew this and her finance' is doing other contract work and mentioed this to her. Found out its one of those things where you have to know someone

so I'm asking...any connenctions?

What's your line of work? Any military experience?

In general, you should be looking for companies that are GSA approved contractors. Once you have gone through the GSA approval process you have one big wall dealt with.

Otherwise, dealing directly with the government as an independent contractor is painfully slow. Trust me - I know. Things go much quicker on the jobs that I sub-contract through an approved vendor. As an independent consultant (and a non-US citizen) GSA approval is too much hassle.

I'll 2nd what PB said. Giving an unsolicited proposal to the government is a long, time consuming process.

I hope you find a contact.

PS. I'd like to get a contact in the Dept. of Homeland Security if anyone knows one...
