Got suspended from Facebook for a cartoon I posted 4 years ago

Can't make this crap up. In 2018 I posted a political cartoon on Facebook. Yesterday I got notice that I am now suspended for 28 days for violating community standards 4 years ago. WTF?

95% of my posts on my facebook page are family related or related to fencing. And I am not a prolific poster on my personal page in any way, so this is not going to ruin my life :yum:

Below is the cartoon that "violates community standards", I got no further explanation other than the fact I am suspended. I guess they can't handle the truth.

That doesn't surprise me because the same type of thing has happened to me. If it was a picture of President Elect Trump being hanged, it would most likely be just fine with the narrow-minded, hate-mongering bigots.

Yep, happened to me also. for one I posted in 2019 I think. Mine was a meme of Hillary ....saying she would cause someone (forget who) to commit suicide if they testified against her. FB sucks.

Never wasted my time on Facebook
I am on it primarily to deal with competitive fencing information. I administer our fencing club page. I also administer the page for the midwest fencing clubs & athletes. My personal page is pretty benign. I do like that my family has a private group page so I can keep up on family news.

The wife gets on it because of car club activities
And once in a great while a family event.
She's the brave soul wandering through the jungle.

I constantly get "check us out on face book" requests
I never go there.

You’re an amateur, thats happened to me. Hell, I’m to the point they warn while I type and I’m not kidding!

Facebook is a sewer, has been since Day 1.
I had an account - before you had to give them your phone number.... - simply to 'see' posted links/customer issues.

it was set to only friends of friends could send a 'friend request'
I had zero, none, nada one 'friend' in my profile.
regardless, every day I would get 10-20 'friend requests' from all kinds of strange and weird people all over the world....

after months of delete-delete-delete . . . I got curious and clicked on the 'friend' showing her wedding photo from Laos.
well, turns out the accounts - apparently millions of them - had been hacked, the hackers replaced the avatars with animated GIFs with embedded porn sites 'on screen'

quite obviously Facebook "sold" the rights to hack accounts and "friend request" any and all users.
deleted the account; never bothered to return after they demanded phone numbers for 'verification'

I never gave FB my phone number, they still don't have it. They do occasionally request I add it for "security" reasons that I don't understand. My experiences on FB are very different than yours.

That all said, I am mainly there as an administrator for 2 different olympic style sport fencing pages and most (at least 90%) of my total posts since joining FB are simply forwarding news/events onto those 2 pages I help administer.

Simply not practical.

My own fencing club has a website. 98% of our new members come through our facebook page.

The other fencing page I administer is simply a consolidation page for competitive fencing news across "Region 2" of the USAFencing Organization. Dozens of clubs, even college teams, and perhaps over 1000 competitors, rely on that as the aggregate source of information for the region. Even the USA Fencing Org pages follow that page to distribute information on their state pages.

I understand the frustration with Facebook. I'm on it but rarely post or comment on anything political. I'm mainly on it for the marketplace to buy and sell used stuff. Kijiji used to be the go to place to list stuff for sale but that is quickly being replaced by marketplace.

Very hard to do, but perhaps we should look for alternative platforms. Vote with your feet and leave.
Generally I agree, but from the practical standpoint, for my uses, it is simply not possible because I administer a page that has huge regional impact for my sports organization. It is simply the choice of the people I need to reach.

From the personal standpoint I have no real use for Facebook

I think we should all make demanding calls to our congressmen and senators. Imagine what would happen if black people kept getting suspended from fakebook? The whole world would be rightfully enraged and there would be aggressive laws made and enforced. Hey, conservatives deserve the same protection.
