GOP Senate Leader Mitch McConnell to STEP DOWN from leadership position

Glory days! RINO Mitch McConnell, according to the AP, is going to step down from his leadership position in the Senate GOP in November!

This will create some chaos if Trump wins in November because a "lame duck" Democratic leadership will do everything they can to shove through all sorts of legislation and if there is no united GOP due to a power battle to replace McConnell, liberal legislation and rules will be enacted. But that is a SHORT TERM problem. McConnell has been a LONG TERM problem for the GOP for the past dozen or so years. He does deserve credit for helping President Trump with supreme court nominees, but beyond that he was one of the architects of the "bi-partisan border solution" legislation that was hugely problematic and, that thankfully, got killed. He was also behind many other problematic pieces of "uni-party" spending/debt legislation.

So I consider this very good news. Good riddance to the Kentucky Senator as the leader of the Senate GOP.

McConnell will step down as the Senate Republican leader in November after a record run in the job

WASHINGTON (AP) — Mitch McConnell, the longest-serving Senate leader in historywho maintained his power in the face of dramatic convulsions in the Republican Party for almost two decades, will step down from that position in November.
McConnell, who turned 82 last week, announced his decision Wednesday in the well of the Senate, the chamber where he looked in awe from its back benches in 1985 when he arrived and where he grew increasingly comfortable in the front row seat afforded the party leaders.
“One of life’s most underappreciated talents is to know when it’s time to move on to life’s next chapter,” he said. “So I stand before you today ... to say that this will be my last term as Republican leader of the Senate.” . . .

I felt sorry for him in the interview video I saw where he froze and looked confused I don't wish that on anyone and hope my handlers at that point don't put me through that if I'm having those problems.

THREAD UPDATE:

McConnell is trying to PUT an Establishment/RINO/NeoCON Senator in as Leader of the Senate.

He set a secret vote election for Wednesday. By calling for an early election it tosses a wrench into the process. This favors both RINO Senator John Thune and RINO Senator John Cornyn.

Mostly conservative Senator RICK Scott, from Florida, a prior challenger to McConnell quickly threw his hat into the ring.

For the record, according to the conservative index, Cornyn and Thune are both rated an "F" and Scott is rated a "B-" The grades are assigned based on actual voting records.

Scott votes with the Democrats roughly 12-15% of the time.
Cornyn and Thune with the Democrats much closer to 90% with the Democrats.

There are 6 Libertarians in the Senate, all 6 of those are more aligned to the Trump agenda and vote against the Democrats between 96% and 92% of the time, the most well known of them is Rand Paul. It is worth noting that Florida Senator Rick Scott has received the endorsement of Rand Paul in the fight for Senate Leader. Scott also has the endorsement of Wisconsin conservative Senator Ron Johnson, as well as Tennessee conservative Senator Bill Hagerty.

Libertarian Senator Mike Lee came up with an idea as a back up plan, it could be a good plan.

Betting odds for Rick Scott are going up. But they change minute to minute.

And he promises 4 main things if he is elected to be leader of the Senate:

Elon Musk announced he is backing Rick Scott.

Elon Musk backs Rick Scott’s Senate leadership bid as Florida Senator becomes runaway favorite on Polymarket

One of the most significant figures in the 2024 electoral cycle is behind Sen. Rick Scott in his second attempt at leading the Republican Senate Caucus.
This position is more impactful now than it was in 2022, due to Republicans holding a Congressional majority and Donald Trump being President-elect.
Elon Musk endorsed Scott Sunday afternoon, as a quote tweet to the Senator pledging to enact Trump’s agenda via approving recess appointments and spiking Joe Biden judicial appointments.
“100% agree. I will do whatever it takes to get your nominations through as quickly as possible,” Scott said.
Musk also is running a poll. At this writing, more than 65% of respondents back Scott for the position, with Senators John Cornyn of Texas and John Thune of South Dakota way behind. . . .

Looks like the fix is in, McConnell will leave the senate after taking a massive smelly dump on the floor outside his office.

The people's choice for Senate leadership, Rick Scott, the only conservative choice for Senate leadership who will work FOR the Trump agenda, is actually in LAST place. Senator Thune, who has had harsh opinions about Trump appears to be in the lead.

This guy wants to be leader of the Senate to ‘help’ move Trumps agenda?!?

I've sent emails to both of my Indiana Senators. Both are Republicans, one is a RINO and the other is a very solid conservative. So there is some chance with one to sway him to support Senator Rick Scott.

More on the behind the scenes bull crap with the snap election in the GOP.
its getting frustrating these RINO'S having pull

Despite the possibility that we may get a new version of Mitch McConnell in the leadership position in the Senate, all 3 Senators are now agreeing to do recess appointments of Trumps cabinet picks so he can literally hit the ground running on day 1 in office.

Welp Welp Welp the old dog from Kentucky is apparently not happy.

He stepped down. Thune is the boss. Probably same as the old boss? And the old boss is pissed and doesn't want to grant Trump the cabinet positions in an expedited 'recess appointment' process.

Trump has 2 years to accomplish things. By following the standard way of "doin' bidness" in corrupt Washington it can take up to 2 years to get appointments into their seats.

Expedited appointments seems reasonable. Not saying they won't be up for election in 1 or 2 cycles, but nothing will change if the old admin gets its way.
