Going to Ohio

Headed to Ohio in a few days, will be in the Northeast if any of you guys are passing though the area for a cup of coffee at one of the fanciers places, like truck stops and the like.

Mother-in-Law is getting an operation to "Redo" a mess the Doctors did the first time. Seems they put some kind of "Appliance" in her arm for a future kidney dialysis machine and didn't do it right and now it has to be replaced.

Will have some free time though, have to look around for something that I will desperately need in Alaska... Whatever that is...

That's pretty far up in NE Ohio. I may be to come up with some time to head up that way. My weekends are kinda tied this month, but I'll see what I can do.

Figures!! Sorry to hear that Foggy. :(
Well, if you're going Northeast you'll miss me.
You'd miss me anyway as I am working Friday thru Sunday, but I'd dig meeting you at some greasy spoon for a cuppa joe and talking. :)

Be up by the lake in Ashtabula County, place called Kingsville.... Oct. 5th though about the 23rd...
If you're going to be there for a few weeks, I might be able to hook up with you.

I've been driving the I-79 to I-90 route to go visit my Mom which intersect about 20 miles from Kingsville.

This weekend isn't going to work well as I'll have Mrs. Zoom and the kids with me as we swing back Sunday night but if I go back to NY on 10/10 - 1/12, I'll probably be solo and have some time to visit.

Send me a PM with your contact info (cell phone?) while you're in the area and I'll call once I know when I'll be in the area.

Well there was almost a foot of snow in the yard when I left Alaska to head to Ohio. It has been sunny and about 80 degrees.... ABOVE!!!

Heat is a bit too hot, but I don't have to shovel it either!

Been building a ramp for the mother-in-law so she can get down about a four step porch. Just got it done, will have to paint it tomorrow, got it primed today.

Hope all is well with everyone!

Thanks, but the water is a bit "Hard" now....

Need to get back home just to take a break! Been busy making the Mother-in-Laws place good for a person that can't get up and down the stairs and such very well anymore. Redoing the bathroom now that I got the wheelchair ramp done.... Just installed a new stacked washer/drier combo where the old bathtub was that she couldn't use. It was too high to get in and out, so putting a new shower in next to the washer/drier today...

It was a lot easier to haul stuff out to the wilderness in Alaska to build a cabin that visiting the "Southern" Relitives in Ohio....

Been nice seeing a second fall though!]

Headed back home in less than a week!!!!

Hey how is the mother-in-law???? How are YOU???
Enjoying your Ohio stay?

Made it home, so now I can rest...

She is doing better than the last time we were down there two years ago. She can't do stairs well, so built a wheelchair ramp down the front stairs, then pulled the old bathtub that was too tall for her to use, tossed it. Replaced it with a new stand-up Washer/Dryer so she don't have to hike to the basement that looks more like a dungeon than basement. Then went and bought a new shower that installs in a corner, had to build a wall for one side next to the toilet to install it, then put the stainless steel hand rails all over so she could get a good grip on it to get around both in and out of the shower.

Tell you what though, this "Vacation" stuff is way too expensive, it is cutting way too much into my new airplane replacement fund and "Imp" upgrades....

I guess she needed the ramp and other stuff, so maybe later I will get the airplane, besides... it is winter now, and I would just have to shovel snow off of it now anyway....:pat:

Here is a few shots of the damage, got some solar lights at Lowe's and put them on the end of the ramp to make it look "Classy". They don't give off much light, but look neat at night for a few hours before they run out of juice and go dark.

Funny how when I went to get some tools from the "In-Laws" everyone said they has some I could use, but couldn't find them (In-laws) when I needed to get the tools... figured they thought they were going to have to come with the tools to help I guess... Father-in-Law had a pretty good supply of tools before he passed away, then the tools seem to have melted away since....

Went out and bought all the tools for the job, then boxed them up and mailed them back to Alaska the day before we left. Wasn't going to leave them there for "Freebies"....:yum:

I'm just sorry I couldn't get the time to head up and meet you while you were here. Glad you're back home safe.

The ramp looks awesome.

Nice work on the ramp Fogtender! Those two post ends kind of look like little light houses - is that your trademark? ;)

Your wording there made me laugh!!! I had a mental picture of her using the new setup...

I too am sorry I didn't get up to that area to meet with you.

Not a problem, was pretty busy working to get all the "Lists" done before I could get back out of town! Maybe on the next round of "To do" items...

Geezzeee.... Never thought about that, but they do kinda look like lighthouses.... it must have been flashbacks when I was in Lowe's...

Well my mental picture of her trying to "Repel" into the bathtub was a bit off too....
