GoFoods free sample pack

Got the package today! Also learned from the info page that came with it: It's all 100% vegetarian! I had no idea when I ordered it. But that's ok. Gonna give the Tuscan Pasta a try tonight. Will take pics and give a review.

This is your answer when it is your turn to cook? Wife brought home a sub and threw it on the table and said "there is your supper".:whistling:

I could eat a sub! Italian, with extra salami and pepperoni... mmm

Anyway this is my answer to the impending food crisis when SHTF. Well, part of it, anyway. We will be canning and growing from a garden, too. But I wanted to see how these extended shelf life foods were, so I couldn't pass up the free sample pack. Expires in 2027 :brows:

Hell I will expire quicker than that! I have backpacked with some of those meals before. They are not that bad. Sure beats eating bugs and what not.

Yup that's what I figure. But my plans include holding down the fort if at all possible. I don't wanna have to leave the homestead and all provisions, like stored food, fuel, and......

.......white lightnin? :shifty:

I figure if SHTF the state store in Westfield will be empty in the first hour. It is the only one around till you get to Coudersport and does one hell of a business for a little place. Everybody knows which tractor trailer double parks on main street to unload there.

Done
Smells good, tastes good. One thing, I had to add a little flour to help it thicken up, was a bit soupy. But I DID foller the deerekshuns!

I've got a years supply for 2 adults for 2 meals a day from Wise which are good. I see they have some things that Wise doesn't so I order the sample pack myself tonight after seeing this post. The Wise lasts 25 years and this one 20 but hell I know I won't live that long regardless. I also have about 6 months of MRI for 2 also but those just don't stack up flavor wise as the Wise foods do and hopefully this outfits but one can survive on it I'm sure.

Hey Rusty, "Chicken Cheddar Rice" ain't exactly vegetarian. :yum: Tell us what it tastes like.

I probably need to get some of those freeze dried foods. I have a 72 hour pack for 2 in my emergency bag but a few more wouldn't go amiss. Just enough for a few weeks would be enough, I think.

Joe, you said that the Wise products are fairly good. How about the Mountain House stuff? How does it compare? I tried some of the MH stuff many, many years ago and it was OK but not something that you'd stand in line and wait for.

MH is very good EXCEPT the eggs with bacon. Family tried it and said NO WAY. I can eat anything or so I thought. Couldn't choke down the eggs w/bacon. Gave it to the dog... She wouldn't eat it.

ABSOLUTELY!!!
It's so pure you can use it for sterilization. One shot for the recipient, one shot for the doctor to clean his gear.

I have at least 6 gallons (for medicinal purposes...) :whistling:

.
Frank, it doesn't seem to include 'chicken' as an ingredient. Probably just a flovouring like in the Knorr side dishes. Either way I will definatley post results in here

Sorry Frank I've never tried it due to it fact I wasn't aware of it when I started buying. Bud's sells the Wise so I tried a small package and it was acceptable and lasts 25 years. I did look it up Mountain House after you mentioned it and some of it looks good also. Now to be honest with you none of this is as good as cooked from fresh and served but it beats the hell out of starving to death or being forced to eat bugs, snakes and any other small game one can catch.

That is the same with Wise however they sell vegetable, meat, fruits also so you can fix up the vegi entrée easily. The vegetable and fruits include sauces or topping to serve with them also.

thanx for passing the info on,- i may order. just to. different (to me) food is intriguing.
yeah, rusty the 'chix' is likely soy or a knorr-like item. or both.

deep-fried snake is good- no kiddin'!

I agree on reptile meat is good fried as are frogs legs however move to raw and add raw bugs, snails etc and the taste buds best be gone.

Besides turtle is a reptile too and it can sure be tasty.
