Getting out and having a good time with the Thiokol Spryte

First post for me.......
Been trying to get a good feel for my first snowcat, It's been a long time dream for my family, and I finally have been able to give us the opportunity to be year round on the ranch! I bought my first snowcat, 67 Thiokol Spryte 1202 last year, and have been learning and upgrading it since. Also picked up a 63 less than 5 months later, yes I'm completely addicted! Anyway, last winter I wasn't able to get much time in the snow, so I worked on, and did hundreds of hours of research, and wrenching on the cats, second one is getting a rebuilt engine currently due to previous ownership. Yet I have been putting some hours in the seat of my 67. It's been a learning curve for me, I've run equipment my entire life, lots of hours in a dozer ect..... But I'm lacking winter time experience, I've snowmobiled a bit, but I hate getting cold! So I went for the heated can of a snowcat! My Dad dreamed of having one, he never got to enjoy one before he passed, so I'm hoping I'm doing him proud with getting the family and friends in one on the mountain we all love during the summer! With our ranch being a long 15 to 25 miles from the paved road depending on route, I'm nervous taking us all down in that far, so it's been lots of trips making sure I have our machine in reliable order. I've got to say, by far this is the best thing I have ever done to bring our family closer and to spend quality time together! We have had quite a few test trips this winter, making further each time and seeing more of the winter on the mountain than ever! I'm hoping to get some other southern Utah people into catting, especially for having strength in numbers! We all have a great time getting out and making tracks! If anyone is in so Utah and wants to get together and snowcat around let me know!

Thats good family stuff that will be remembered for a lifetime.

I like the picture of the 3 well armed lads. No one will be stealing the gold off of that stagecoach.

What part of utah are you located
i had one like that for quite a while and it did a good job those tracks runn on hard packed road better than the J cleats
in used to run 6-8 miles not as far as you are
the cats let you take young and old persons that otherwise wouldn’t be able to go
the caution I’d give you is snowcats aren’t hot rods if you beat them they wil break
your going to want to go faster than are designed for
the 6 cylinder engine are exellents
But you can’t over rev them which you’ll want to do on long drives
some run good at 3000 rpm some at 4000 rpm you’ll have to check your manual
sure you’ll be fine
enjoy

Embrace the slow , I own a 79' super imp 6 man cab . When it comes to sno cats , "slow motion is better than no motion" . Wish we could attend , some year we will surely trailer out from Wisconsin ???
