Getting better, need some advice

I have been dealing with depression since i was 11, around 20/21 things got really bad, i was diagnosed with Spectrum Bi-Polar Type 2 with Severe Depression and Chronic Suicidal thoughts. Basically, for me, i am in a constant state of depression but the severity of the depression fluctuates.

6 years later, after many meds, treatments and therapy we finally have a med that seems to be working (I was resistant to the meds tried up until this one) The problem is that i have been secluded for the last 6 years, couldn't work spent most of my time alone inside, now that i am getting better i want to get out, meet people, and make some friends, I live in a somewhat small town, and have no idea of how to go about meeting people, places to go etc.

Try going to some sporting events. Maybe semi pro hockey or even high school games. Church, if you are so inclined is a good place to interact with folks. I doubt that the bar scene would be good with your meds. Take small steps till you gain confidence and feel at ease. Welcome to this forum. You won't stay shy and withdrawn around the wild folks on here for too long.:flowers:

Thanks for the advice, have started going to church again. Hopefully won't stay shy, looks like a good group of people from the exploring i've done

If you live in a small town I'll bet that there are a thousand opportunities to do volunteer work of some kind. Once it gets know that you are willing to help, your phone will be ringing off the hook. Check your local newspaper for organizations that are active in your area and give them a call and offer your services.

I live in a small town of 5,000 people and there are so many organizations and groups that are looking for help, labor, a few hours a week doing something or other. It's a great way to get out and meet people and it will make you feel better about yourself as you help others.

I'm so glad that your meds are finally starting to work. Depression is one of those diseases that is so misunderstood by the general public.
