Hello Bob, We operate LMC 1500,2100B and C(Van conversion) and Sprytes. I
am a fan of the old school due to its dependability when maintained
properly. Thanks for the thread as it is very interesting. I have attached
a few photos of one that I just sold which was probably one of the nicest
sprytes I have ever restored. Thanks for the connection. Steve Matthews

What kind of snowcats do you operate? From the pictures on the website,
looks like an LMC, a Thiokol Spryte, and possibly a Thiokol/Van conversion?

Are you familiar with the snowcat forums at

The seats are real close to what I have planned. I will have four. The rear benches will be completely redone to match my new seats. I will do the upholstery myself. The fuel tank on the side I have stated before thats what I will be doing. The diamond plate flooring was something I also wanted to do but may not do to a suggestion from MTNTOPPER. The floors I will also insulate from sound, vibration and cold. The walls and ceilings will get a diffrent type of insulation. I do like the taller rear section which would pretty easy to do. I have thought about it with the pick-up 1202 but will keep it as is for now. The blade is my next purchase. I will either buy a blade or buy another Thiokol with a blade already on her. BUT I have to pay some bills off first!

The Spryte from Peak Adventures is now at its new home in northern Colorado and is used for both ski adventure and cabin access by it's new owner. He was really happy to find that fine piece of snow cat machinery and be able to purchase it for his use.

Now if you can make one of yours look like that and sell it, then you will be giggling all day long for no apparent reason. But we will know it is because you can now get that Kristi you've always wanted.

More from Peak Snowcats...

Hello Bob, The Joe trip was quite interesting last year, especially with the
discovery of the Wolf, which it was confirmed had starved. I am headed out
of town tomorrow, but when I return I will try to get registered and send
some more photos, as I have 100's as well as too many stories. If you don't
hear from me, drop me an email. Thanks Steve M

Great! Thanks a lot for replying and especially for the pictures. The guys
and gals on the forum love pictures! Any more you care to share? If you
haven't already joined the forums, please do. Just a bunch of snowcat nuts
who enjoy sharing pictures, maintenance tips, parts resources, tall tales,
etc.

By the way, a couple of my guys hired you last year to get into one of our
earthquake monitoring sites near the Red Ives Ranger Station along the St.
Joe River.

Good to see that big Spryte still running. When I rebuilt the differential I changed the ring and pinion ratios from the 6.14 to the 5.44 and getting a good gear contact pattern was difficult but it seems to be OK. The spool gears/bushings were in great shape. If the designated driver they had for that vehicle couln't break it, no one will. I wasn't too happy with the fit of the OEM axle bearing retainer collars though. Hopefully they are tight enough. I usually make my own collars with .005" press fit instead of the OEM's .003"
I guess the only thing the interior didn't get was the DVD player.
I have wondered what that machine weighed with the all steel cab?
