Two of the Miners managed to escape, raise the alarm, and rescue a third, woi is critically ill in hospital. One was found dead, but unable to be reached, and two more were discovered, dead, today. Now hopes fade for the last man...

A third miner was today found dead in flooded tunnels as rescuers spent 30 hours hunting for four men trapped in a collapsed mine yesterday.


As the rescue operation moved into its 30th hour, a third body was discovered in a different place to where two miners had previously been found dead.

Hopes of finding the last man alive were fading this afternoon, but rescue attempts continued at the Gleision Colliery in south Wales.

Rescuers had earlier been obstructed by debris and high water levels, and were trying to pump in oxygen and pump out water in a bid to keep the men alive.

Allthough it is sad that he wasn't found alive , I think its better for those who loved him that he was found this quickly, rather then not knowing for sure wether he is still alive like mining accidents have happened in the past . That would be very tough for me, just not knowing and not being able to do anything about it. :sad:
