FORGIVE ALL STUDENT LOANS???

Saw an interview with one of the many leaders of the Chicago protests. He was in studio at WGN 9 News and the anchors were asking him for his 'demands' to end the protest.

Gist was that this is an awareness protest and nothing will end it until the protestors decide to end it.

But when pushed to list demands, seems like one of his main focus points was to "forgive all student loans," which I took to mean college loans.

Why?

He actually said (not his exact words): Because corporations got bailouts for no reason so the kids should get them too :hammer:

Now I didn't support the bail outs then, don't see a reason to support education bailouts either. But those who supported the bi-partisan bailouts proclaimed they "saved" the economy.

Seems like these new demands for school loan bailouts support bad behavior or bad choices. Many who have college degrees and whopping student loans studied in programs that don't yield jobs that pay enough to pay back the loans! That is a stupid choice. Many others took the "5 year plan" and meandered through their education unsure of their major. The 'kid' demanding the bailouts was wearing trendy designer glasses, had his stylish haircut, looked every bit the urban trendsetter (probably using mom & dad's money). So if your education ends up costing you NOTHING then how much is it really worth?

To get something you should earn it.

Want to bailout someone, how about we bail out the disadvantaged student who worked his butt off to attend college, got above average grades and then got a job. That is the one that I might be willing to help.

How about a bailout for those of us who worked and paid our way as well as our taxes and social security for 40+ years? We watch the thieves on wall street steal our money from supposed safe investments and keep cutting corners just to survive. They bailed out the greedy ones and set an example for the kids to follow.

Loans are paid back, just like "bailouts" which were in fact loans to large corporations. Some banks were even forced to take "bailouts" or loans by the govt, even though the banks wanted nothing to do with the loans. Likewise student bailouts need to be paid back as well.

. . . Likewise student bailouts need to be paid back as well.

Fred, stop it. You are not telling those young impressionable minds what they want to hear. They are demanding that the loans be forgiven so they can go about 'consuming' their expensive computers, smart phones and trendy clothes that are all made by the very corporations they want to overthrow.

These are the type of idiots are colleges are producing these days?

No. These are the types of idiots the parents are unleashing on the world today. I think they are ruined before they get to college. Sadly colleges seem to enable them.

The ones we DON'T see are at work.

Someone should throw it back at him. Tell him if he wants that let's forgive everyones mortgage too!! He won't survive in the real world.

MD is right on here. It started in the home with the parents. Raise a child well and you will be rewarded with a life time of good memories. Raise them poorly, you get the majority of them these days....

But then again the Government not let you disipline your kids just any old way. I think this has had an effect, and not a good one on youth of today. They just feel intitiled to their "rights" and will tell you so if asked. In my day this would land you a good spanking.....

Regards, Kirk

Overall, I don't approve of forgiving the loans, but if they decide to do it, where do we sign up? We are still paying Monica's loans and it would be great to not have to worry about that. :whistling: Of course, I'm all up for the if they want to forgive mortgages bailout as well:whistling::whistling:

Forgive my BAR TAB! *Hic*

OK, I'll forgive your loan at the rate of $10K per year until the loan balance is gone. You have to work for me at an annual salary that's $5000 less then your peers so in fact I'm only forgiving 1/2 of your loan.
