For Sale: S&W Model 500 stainless 8 3/8" LNIB

Dargo

Like a bad penny...
I decided that it's time to move some of my duplicate firearms. Other than the extremely rare, and not considered a "production", Pfeifer Zeliska Nitro Express .600, this is the most powerful handgun manufacturered in the world. I have fired exactly 20 rounds through this pistol. Surprisingly enough, it really isn't bad on recoil even with the heavy loads. This is especially surprising when you consider that a Desert Eagle .50AE (which many consider similar) produces 1300 to 1400 ft-lbs of energy at the muzzle and this .50 Magnum produces over 2600 ft-lbs of energy at the muzzle. For reference, 300 grain .44 Magnum cartridges top the .50AE at nearly 1500 ft-lbs.

There's not much to say about this pistol except that it's like new, comes with the box and all manuals, locks, etc., and is the stainless 8 3/8" barrel variant. Of course it's ported as can be seen in the pictures. I thought I'd see if anybody here on FF is interested before I put it on GunBroker or AuctionArms. My bottom line dollar figure is $800 plus shipping to your FFL dealer. Please shop that price anywhere online. It will cost you about $950 on average most everywhere I've seen. So this is a FF special price.

I have no idea if this will be a caliber listed on the expected ban by the new president, but many believe it definitely will. Now is your chance to grab one before the prices really go up if it becomes banned to produce. Feel free to ask any questions.

Thanks for adding the note Bob.

Brent, I'll show this to a co worker tomorrow ....I suspect he will be interested.

If it was a six shooter I'd snap it up, but being only a 5 shot gun I'm just not sure it has the oomph to rid the world of a marauding mother-in-law that I might meet out in the woods.

Now that's a perfect reason to buy it: Either get into reloading or go bankrupt!

Too bad I'm still holding off on such toys. :bonk:

For some reason, the cost of .45 ammo doesn't seem so bad:mellow:

I saw them shooting one of these on Manswers and they said that the .44 Magnum had more recoil because the .500 was compensated. And of course their test was very scientific as they used large chested women in bikinis and the most jiggling while shooting determine which had more recoil.:punk:

Kinda reminds me of this Idiot firing a 600 nitro pistol after badgering the guy that made it to let him shoot it at a gun range/show... The guy made it for looks and to show off, not shoot...

But he did let the guy shoot it.... Funny to watch defective gene pools go through life.....:rolf2:

Thanks for the conversation and questions, but I have now decided that I will just keep this pistol.

It's not that I need it, but I really never sell any firearms I buy. Anytime I have I've had to go and either buy them back or replace them. Anyway, if a ban does come about by OB1, I feel quite certain this pistol would be listed as something our saviour feels we don't need to have. Obviously I don't think OB1 is someone who needs to tell me what firearms I should have and what I shouldn't have. I know he is a completely irrational gun grabbing radical simply based on the fact that he has, on numerous occasions, stated that he feels that there should be a federal ban on concealed carry. So, I guess I'm selling nothing. :flowers:

Too bad for some lucky member here, but no doubt you're right.

If I wasn't holding off gun purchases until I get into a long term job again, I'd have taken you up on it before you had a chance to change your mind! What a perfect way to own a firearm that gives anti-gun groups fits and give yourself an excuse to get into reloading all at the same time.
