Thanks Ronnie
He had a grand party this evening.
There were a lot of people there that I hadn't seen in a very long time.
One thing I find very nice is that his day was on Veteran's Day, and he was oh so proud of his time spent in Korea and never let anyone forget it either.
Tomorrow they'll lay him to rest and he'll be strutting as proud as a peacock up there during the military rites.
He looked very handsome and at peace.
Wonder if anyone will wipe the pink lipstick off his forehead?
Here's to a special man who loved reading western novels, loved country music and watching Walker Texas Ranger. Loved his beer and chew back in the day, fishing on the little Auglaize and St. Mary's rivers, attending every damned holiday parade in full dress and marching on behalf of the VFW... he loved my Mom's fried chicken, he owned an antique/junk shop here in town for years and loved talking to the people who'd come in to browse more than he cared to actually sell anything.
I think the proudest two moments of his life were when his daughter went to college and gave birth to his grandson.
I AM happy that I got to care for him, and comfort him until the end.
There was a night before he was put on a stronger pain med.
I came walking down the hall toward his room and he smiled right through that god damned pain and pretended like it wasn't as bad as I knew it was.
Yup.. gonna miss him.. but he's in the better place now.
