Floation for a 200BR?

Hi gang!

I am going to buy a 200BR, that has a 300 engine in it instead of the standard 250. The machine has power and speed. However, my concern is it's flotation in snow, or lack there of. With 29" tracks, The specifications say that it's flotation is about 1.0. with driver; the max. recommended weight to carry is said to be 2,000#.

I have owned and driven a 1200C (44"tracks). and a Sno-Trac. Obviously, this machine will be sinking in soft snow a lot more than these machines. I am thinking the BR200 might sink like 12-15" deep when driving on the flats in 3-4' of new powder, without much weight: with the full 2,000# max carrying capacity, sinking would be a bit more than this. So, what are people's experiences driving this machine in snow, both on flats and on hills?

I plan on using the machine for setting xc track, going backcountry skiing and renting it occasionally to a utility. Shall have a light rear passenger box on it and a small blade. The 7' width and 4000# makes it ideal to transport about. I recognize the downside is having the narrower set of 29"tracks; A BR250 with the 9 1/2' width, 44" tracks is just a little to wide overall for me to want to transport it a lot. Finally, I do have to mention that I do not care to spend more $ and purchase a LMC1500.

Thank you for your help.

I am not sure what to add or remove to make the machine "float". My SW-48 has the same problem, but they were not designed to do so in deep snow. Merely give great traction on city streets, parking lots, etc. I am looking to add at least 12" to the width per side. That should improve things a bit! I just posted a new thread as to what the belting is and where it can be purchased in N. America... Any idea?
