First Communion Gift?

Mrs. Zoom needs to get something.

What's an appropriate gift or amount of $ for a First Communion?

Totally depends on too many circumstances to answer. Is this an aquaintance, a close relative, distant relative? Is this someone you feel obligated to get a gift for, or someone you want to give a gift to? What are the social circumstances? Etc.

A safe bet might be a $50 savings bond, costs you $25. But if the social circles are elevated, then double that.

Something like a Saint Christopher's medal on a necklace or stuff like that is always good. If they have a gift shop at the church that is usually the best place to buy them ....or at a Christian book store. I would guess they would be in the twenty dollar price range, but I have not bought any for quite awhile.

The girl is in my daughter's dance class. Mrs. Zoom and the mom have known each other for a couple years and have become friends (although they don't get together much outside of the weekly dance class and whatever social things they do afterwards). I would say the social circle is pretty high.

Mrs. Zoom was thinking of not getting a religious pendant or something as she figures she'll be getting several of those from family.

Is some sort of toy or something appropriate or is it pretty much cash or religious items?

Here is another idea. Your local Hallmark store has several "figurines" for First Comm. You know the porclian kind. That way the little girl has something to put on her dresser to remind her of her special day.

Given the relationship described, I think WW is right on target with the type of gift. :applause:

To follow up on WW suggestion, why not get her one of those snow ball type of decorations. They rapidly disappear after introduction, so they are somewhat collectible by kids later on when they realize that they have something that no one else has. You know, the kind that when you shake them they look like snow is falling??????? Junk.. full of stupid ideas....

thank you, its one of my talents or knack I seem to have. You'd be surprise how many of my clients/friends want me to help them figure out what to give other people for gifts. Maybe I should turn it into a business!

I'm going to give Mrs. Zoom your suggestion when she gets home.

Thanks Again!!
