Why do keep torching high class places like that? Half the folks around here don't live that good. Not kidding either.:hammer:

I agree Bill , but I needed the pasture area . Removing this place increased the value of my ranch by 150% and I also gained 14 more acres .

I hope you insured it first:brows:my father and i have removed a few buildings to get them off the property taxes, ive hear their are some fellas that stip old buildings and barns for the wood exc. they may have paid you for it..........seems that old sideing and beams are worth somthing....

Well this place was only about 3 years old . Very poorly built and not built in the right area for the land it was on . I did the previous owner/builder a great service by tearing it down and burning it . It would be embarrasing to know that I built something this bad .!!!!

:wow:Sure looks like a waste of a lot of good useable lumber to me . But then again I'm a penny pincher .

looks like fun! Only structure fire we've had was an accident and I'm still waiting on the neighbor to show up with the $1k check he promised me for the shed he & his boys burned down when they lit the other end of their 120 acre pasture and didn't think it's get that far...

Well.....its all gone ! I used a big skidder to break up the foundation and then pushed the whole crumbled mess into a sink hole and covered it with dirt . I will be hooking up a 3 bottom plow next week and going over everything again . It sure looks great looking down from the main house . Nothing but wide open pastures !!!!:biggrin::biggrin::smile::smile::smile:

Well since I originally posted this a lot has been done .

We plowed the land with my nieghbors 4 bottom plow . It was hard as a rock . I have Rotortilled it a couple times . Ran a Harrow about 20 times over it getting it leveled out .
Went out last night while it was cool and leveled it one more time .
One more pass with the Rotiller and a drag and its going to be ready for fall seeding .

I am looking at a hybrid Alfalfa and grass seed mix that will survive down to -40 below .

Here I thought you were working on a piece of machinery and you were going to say it backfired!

Just flat out torching it is Arson isn't it?:whistling:

It ain't arson if it ain't insured. This would be called a controlled burn or accidental structure fire. You make a nice donation to the fire company and they help you watch it burn. They just did that to an old camp down the hollow from me last fall. We had a bit of a picnic going on while it burned and then tried out the new dry hydrant to wet it down.

Just crawled through the door . Damn ! Is my butt draggin . I hooked up the old off set 6' disc I had and loaded it up with concrete wieghts . It worked great until I blew out a bearing , sheared the shaft and half of the disc came off . Thank God I was almost done , when it snapped . This acting like a farmer is kicking my ass ! The wife actually came down in the truck to see why I was out so late .

Well it does sound like you've been busting your butt. Should be all worthwhile when you get done!
