I knew his music but did not know him by name. RIP Ferlin.

(this is the 1st person I've ever heard of with the name Ferlin. I wonder if there is a story behind the name)

Amazingly, it was his birth name ; Ferlin Eugene Husky - He first recorded under the name Terry Preston......

My grandma loved his songs. He was a major player with a strong following in country. Sad that he has passed.

When I was in High School in Gastonia NC. our school, Ashley High had a full pipe organ in the theater. One of my teachers was Ferlins brother. He would come into class drunk and take us all down to the theater to "study". While we read or studied or slept he would play on that big pipe organ the whole hour. Never got to meet Ferlin tho.
