Feeding Deer Not sure what to do

thcri

Gone But Not Forgotten
I use to feed the deer in our back yard. I quite about 2 years ago because I just felt I was attracting more of them. The last winter I had over 20 deer come up to the feeder at night. It was fun to watch because they would still come before the sun went down. They would play and run around.

After I quit feeding them they disappeared. So since they were gone I planted a bunch of fruit trees. This is why I quit feeding them 2 years ago because I did plant some fruit trees and even oak trees and the deer ate them right off at the ground. But we are having a rough winter for the deer as we have had some pretty cold weather and lots of snow and the deer are starting to show up again. Yeah last night my daughter saw them around the new fruit trees.

So my question, do I start feeding again so they leave my fruit trees alone or not?

Get a big dog... put an electic fence around the property and a collar on him and let him run in that area... The deer will not be a problem....

The deer will fill up on what you put out for them but they will still feed on your fruit trees because they need that roughage to help diegest what you feed them. Fence your trees if you want to kep them.

The frost in the ground right now is at about 24". Fencing this time of year is out of the question. I was hoping that if feeding them would keep them somewhat satisfied and they would stay away from the trees. What ticks me off is the bite the top of the tree off so it won't grow up anymore.

Round circles of welded wire fencing 4-5ft tall is what we use here it Works pretty good!!! No posts needed!!!

I was kind of thinking about something I could put on the ground that would be free standing. That might work out pretty good.
