This is the third year of below normal rainfall. Western Iowa is much like Eastern Nebraska in drought conditions.
On my farm we are better off than what you see, but the growing year is far from over.

Where I live it isn't unusual for the farmers to collect both drought and flood damage on their crop in one growing season.

It is unusual here for us to collect any insurance for flood or drought.
In my 35 year tenure it has happened only 3 times.
Glad for that.
I believe there are fringe area's around the outside of the midwest that should not be insurable. Too many claims to high risk.
But some dumb shit is always going to try.
Just like on the coast there are places no one should build a home. This is why insurance companies are leaving some areas.

Read last year sometime an article written by a climatologist that went back in history something like 800 years studying draught thru tree rings. What was found is that the US is on a cycle of draughts between 88 and a hundred and something years that causes dust bowl type draughts. He said then that we are entering one now.I will go back and see if I can find it.

I think it is funny every time I hear a weatherman say this is the hottest it has ever been. How old is the earth? How long ago was the thermometer invented? How do they know what the temperature was before man climbed down out of the trees? Another thing I have wondered about. Where can I find one of those thermometers that shows the real feel temperature?

Many people think there is so much difference in a human and any other animal. Man is just another animal. The earth was here long before man showed up and will be here long after man has become extinct. Instead of man working so hard trying to change the world we would be much better off if we would try to adjust ourselves to the changing earth.

Not the same article but mostly the same info. this one came from the university of Iowa. The article I read before said its a world event on a 88- 100 and something cycle and the evidence says we are coming onto that cycle now.

I hear what you are saying but there needs to be some environmental protection to keep people from dumping chemicals into the rivers or burying nuclear waste in a empty field at the edge of town, just not to the degree of todays econut.

I agree with that but we have so many people wanting to tell us we need to use electric cars while they are riding around in private jets. If they do not believe in what they are trying to get us to swallow why should we believe them?

One other thing I have to say about the matter. The city of Jackson, Ms. have spilled over a trillion gallons of raw sewage into the Pearl river which flows down to the gulf. That is not a typo, over a trillion gallons. It happens to be a democratic led with 80% of the population black. If anyone says anything about it they start yelling RACIST. If it was important skin color would not matter.

Im not on the EV train either, I'm not against progress but I don't see the progress as long as you are burning fuel to make electricity or just make you wheels go round. If solar charged batteries that were capable of powering a car or a home the way the grid or an ICE vehicle does you can sign me up, but until then leave me alone. Its the battery technology lagging at least 10 years.
Example: my cabin neighbor has a 1/4" water line feeding his 600 gallon water tank from my spring and never runs short of water because he never uses 600 gallons in 1 day and the tank refills 24-7. Solar/wind energy works the same way. So if you could charge your car and it could run for 2000 miles without a recharge it would work, same for home energy if you have panels that will make more watts that you can use in 24 hours and a battery that would store it, you would have a reservoir to draw from at night and low enegery producing days.

Thats political, and we are living in a time that is hyper political. Dumping raw sewage in the river is a bad thing.
