Fainting Goats

This is funny. Ever hear of them?
Fainting Goats

We raise them. Started buying breeding stock 3 years ago and this year we have the first kid. Easy to catch even if they don't completely faint. If you startle them just a little their back legs lock up and they drag 'em along behind them.

Funnier than a rubber crutch to watch!

The story goes they were originally bred as sacrificail goats. They would put them in with sheep and when coyotes or other predators would come around the goat would "faint", the predator would attack it allowing the sheep to get away.

I personally wouldn’t want a fainting goat. I did buy a Lamancha goat this past summer. It’s my first goat and she is very nice. Since I had never had one before I deceived myself into thinking I would milk her and gain health benefits from it. Well, to make a long story short she didn’t care for me messing around her utter so I let her dry up and made a pet of her. She really is a nice animal and very smart, but strong headed. I still hope to get a few Nigerian Dwarf goats this summer and will try again. I am also thinking about getting a couple sheep for wool too. Just playing hobby farm!
