Face Shields

I finally got pretty fed up with the cheap face shield that I have been using while doing things like grinding and cutting. Not sure if I just wasted $40 or not, but I'm going to bet that when this arrives I will be happier. This is my new face shield and it replaces the crappy one that falls off my head (no I don't have a pin head). The shield on my cheap shield (and most every one I have seen) flairs out at the bottom so when you are grinding it is pretty easy for sparks to hit your neck too.

This one is made by UVEX. They make some of the best ski-goggles and other eye protection that I've run across. On top of the contour fit, it also has an Anti-Fog coating on the lens. The biggest surprise is that it is made in the USA.

BTW, I ordered it from GEMPLERS.

That's the front section of Star War's Storm Trooper's helmet; just in black. My son has one, of course in white, that he just wore for Trick or Treat last week. :yum:

Oh bite me. You are just upset because you got your face shield from your wife :yankchain:

BTW, are you going to watch the Monon Bell game? Its going to be on TV, I think in H.D.:a1:

Bummer. I'll be in Vermont visiting Norwich University with my son. For some reason I doubt their campus housing units will carry the game. :o

Hey, nice pic. Now I think I know why my Miller Elite Big Window AD welding helmet has a strange sticky feel to the face shield part...

Bob you sissy, cant you handle taking grinding sparks to the body?

I just use my welding helmet, its got a button that holds it in the undarkened setting so you can use it to grind. And it makes the sparks appear a cool green colour :D

Looks like a pretty robust facesheild though. How tough is the sheild, will it take a whack from something?

Thanks Jim...

I wanted to say the same but stopped replying when I realized that I don't use any sort of shield and how stupid that really is... :hide:

BTW - Don't wear anything fleece (like a nice day-glo orange hunting outfit) when grinding or cutting. :( Those flying sparks burn all kinds of nice little holes in it.

Brian, it only takes one to the eye before you start wearing a sheild. Trust me, it isnt that fun. ;)

Every single fleece and T-shirt I own has grinding and welding holes in it. I'm trying to make it into a new fashion. The ripped trousers from catching them when jumping off flat bed lorries seem to be popular right now :yum:

I found a pic of the ole grinding face sheild

Hey, Dargo is the sissyboy, he has that fancy girly face shield!

I don't mind the sparks hitting my clothes, its the sparks that hit my face that I don't like too much. I wouldn't want to damage my looks any more than mother nature already did! :tidolk_is

Yea, I know... I do wear safety glasses or goggles but not much more than that...
It's kind of like soldering. How else 'ya going to know that you've gotten something done if there isn't burn marks on the body or clothes

I didnt know you needed to wear more than that?
Common sense is to direct the sparks away, eye protection is to get those ones that dont go where you want.

COMMON SENSE :pat: That is my problem. I actually don't much like safety goggles and simply prefer a face mask. I think I started using a face mask when I had a full beard (the smell of buring facial hair). Never got out of the habit of using a face mask.
