F/S- 1953 Tucker 443 Sno-Cat & Trailer

I’m thinking of letting my ‘53 Tucker 443 go.

Long story short, we keep our snowmobiles in the small garage at our cabin throughout the winter and bring them home in the summer. The Cat won’t fit through the garage door at the cabin and I won’t let it sit outside, so it basically lives in my shop at home. I also despise the thought of dragging it through the magnesium chloride that the state floods our roads with just to make a short trip into the hills. As a result, the Cat finds itself just sitting in the corner of my shop while we ride our snowmobiles out of our cabin. I have plenty of other projects that need my attention and demand more shop space. I’m not looking to get back what I’ve put in it, just what I think is a reasonable starting/asking price for an 8-place Cat in this condition. Cat has about 10 hours on the clock since the build. $20,000 cash?

I will also sell the custom 16' deck-over trailer I have for this Cat. It has tandem 8000# axles (16,000# total), 2-5/16" hitch, heavy wood deck, and electric brakes on all 4 wheels. I have removable 4'-tall front, rear, and side rails for hauling other ‘loose’ things if you want them, but won’t fit with the Cat on the deck. Ramps move to different positions on the back to load narrower UTV’s and the like. Spare tire is under the deck and all tires are new. I’m only offering to sell the trailer with the Cat. $5,000 firm.

In case you want a refresher on the history and build story of this Cat, it’s here:

you have put so much work in to it I think I would build a bigger shop at camp ,but at 20k that thing would be a steal

Thanks Don. Thought about building a detached garage at the cabin but that would just make the cost of this Cat that much more. Inside storage in the area isn't cheap either, IF you can find it, especially with a door over 8' tall. Anyone with an RV that they care about will pay BIG bucks for inside storage...

you should see what inside storage cost's here never mind trying to heat it at 6 bucks a gallon to heat it so my toys have to sit out side. I was able to pull the Thiokol in to the shop at work this weekend and do some work on it took 4 hours to clean up the mess made trying to get the track adjuster mechanism working again. up here I have found cold storage or out door storage to be best for preservation of equipment and warm storage to be the worst. have you ever considered one of those portable tent buildings for cold storage those things will keep the weather off it and they stand up to the elements nice.

OH MY GOD!!!!

We may need to think about this. I saw your buildout thread - what a Tucker sir.

If my better half sees this thread I may need to get some cash together. Wait a minute - I just sold two Tuckers:shifty:

Whoever gets that Tucker will have a heck of a machine!!!!!!!! That is one amazing restoration! Much better than new!

I believe all messages have been received and replied to. If you didn't get a reply by the time I post this then I didn't get the message>

Thanks for all the positive comments too!

Thought about the tent-type 'shelters' but they're not secure in my absence. Too much of an investment to leave like that.

Dave; Thanks, but I already have a strapping young lad with many work years ahead of him in my possession.

I just had a crisis in my pants! :w00t2: Beautiful machine, too bad you have to sell it!
I bought one of these 'snow' rated shelters a while back.
Hope you won't regret the sale, but the new owner will be very proud.
All the best of luck on the sale!

I wish you good luck with the sale, but I know it's hard to sell and I'm sorry you're selling. I hope it goes to a good home; someone who appreciates the hard work that went into it, and someone who will take care of it.

I completely understand about the road chemicals. I have thought about bringing my project Tucker (when it's done) to a snowcat Jamboree, but probably won't for the same reason.

If/when you do sell - please don't be a stranger to the forums.

Hi Mtn-Trak,

It looks to me like the fifth wheel platforms on your '53 are cast steel. The '54 that I know of has the aluminum ones. Could be that '53 to '54 was the year of update on the 443's. Always hard to figure these things out with orange cats. A magnet will tell the story.

Thanks.

The Cat has found a new loving home with a forum member on Saturday. Thanks for all the interest, positive comments, and offers!:flowers:
