Exploring the "wilds" of Indiana with a Snow Trac

Ok well maybe not really wilds, how about my yard? But some nice glamor shots are included :whistling:

We got a bit of snow last night and our season here is winding down. February in Indiana can bring us snowstorms with a foot of snow or it can bring us above freezing temps and sunshine, so we take what snow we can get and go play in it as it is available.

And a few more . . . just a simple ride around, maybe about an hour, nothing eventful but certainly a nice way to enjoy the sunshine on a cold windy day

Looks good. Nobody else was out and you got to play a little .

Actually everyone else was inside and either sick or crabby so I grabbed my coat an ran out. Momma drowned all the stupid babies long ago. I know when a hasty retreat to the garage is warranted :yum:

nice pics Bob wished i had some nice soft snow to run in ours is like cement now andooks like it's going to stay that way.

Nice outing!
Here in southern Minnesota we have to grab whatever chance we have to play in the snow also. We recently had RAIN (in the middle of January no less) and some pretty warm weather lately. 2-4 inches forecast for Sunday and Monday, though, so maybe I can take your lead and play in the snow.

Very nice Bob,

I bet you have snow for a while yet. Know what you mean about "time to slip out to the shop" LOL, I find myself doing this sometimes!!:whistling:

Great pics of a great machine....does it get any better?

Regards, Kirk

What a great looking machine! Just getting out in the snow makes any of us happy! Nice fields to go play in...

Nice Bob! You don't really get that much snow do you? I don't think I've seen pictures from you with "tons" of snow.

PB had about a foot on the ground in January then we got 45 degree temps that melted most of it, leaving flooding in the same fields where these photos were taken. It really depends on the winter season. Last year we had snowcover for the entire winter, this year not so much. In fact I think for the whole season this year we've gotten about 1/3rd of the snowfall that we had last year.

But no, we don't get multiple feet of snow here. Even after a foot of snow the main roads are passable during most of those storms as we've got plenty of plows to handle that amount of snowfall. As I'm out in a rural area we do have side road issues, the longest we've been "snowed in" here is 3 days (during the past 15 years) but more common is 18 to 36 hours.

Our biggest problems come from the wind off Lake Michigan. If it comes from the north we get dumped on, but DaveNay and Sushi, who both live roughly an hour to to my northwest, may not get any snow at all. On the other hand if the snow comes from the east, they may get snow that completely misses me.

Nice piccys Bob, and you didn't run out of petrol?

No, didn't run out of fuel. But we have many of our schools closed or delayed this due to snow. We are under a WINTER STORM WARNING until 11pm tonight. :fr2: Tonight it switches to a BLIZZARD WATCH, that ends tomorrow at lunchtime. I'm in the area that will get "sustained lake effect" snow from Lake Michigan and is under the blizzard watch. So I'll be outside playing in the snow later, there's a pretty good chance I will run out of fuel this afternoon/evening and have to walk home for the gas can. :boxing:

You may beable to redeem yourself then...... I think only a video will suffice.

I was out this morning exploring the wilds of southern Minnesota. Schools were delayed or cancelled due to snow and wind. I found that my snowcat really has to work when I drive in the middle of the road ditches (probably 4-5 feet of snow). I don't have the beautiful scenery that other forum members can enjoy (more like Indiana probably).

So do I. No mountains or evergreen forests, at least. Pretty darn good for growing corn and soybeans, though.
I know what you mean! It kills me when I see some of the horizons with mountain views that other people post. But hey, they don't have a soybean field so I guess we're even :whistling:
