I recognize this unit from a poster on the forum but don't recall who it is.

Bob ,
Why did not he post it for sale here on FF ?Seems like there are more people interested in cats here and he is a member :confused2: :confused2:

I have contacted Philip Chatfield about the registration number of the ex military snowtrac and he says he will 'look into it'. He may well have some records of this vehicle, but he is very busy, so it may take some time.

I dunno, perhaps he didn't realize he could post it for sale, but here are more photos of this unit from the Craiglist posting. It is still listed for sale. And it looks to be in nice condition and the cabin appears to have been well built and a functional design. The interior, visible in the first post of this thread, also appears to be nicely upgraded.

Hello Folks;
This is a bit of an update for this st4.

I had refrained from listing this unit on the forumsforums site because it needs a tune-up.
(this was my initial query looking for 24v. parts)

BoschUSA informs me that the rotor only is available and that the rest of the parts are NO longer available in North America.
(tho there may be some NOS parts hiding in an old VW repair shop somewhere)

I have ordered up a 12 volt distributor and plug wires and am looking into how to drop the voltage just to the distributor and leave everything else at 24 volts.

It is currently parked at my place about 35 miles north by northwest of Leavenworth Washington. ( or, about 8 miles due west of Lake Wenatchee, up the Little Wenatchee River road)

access up this road is difficult, unless you have a snow-cat or snowmobile, skis or snowshoes.
( read six miles of unplowed driveway.)

After I make the change over / tune-up, I will drive it back out to a more easily accessible location in Plain Washington.
(14 miles north of Leavenworth)

The reason I am selling this unit is because I am upgrading to the larger Volvo BV 202 for the increased cargo carrying capacity.

Requests for more information or pictures
will be honored as soon as possible.

Thank you all for your help and interest.

regards;

Kris, looks like the next owner of your Snow Trac will get a nice unit with fresh tune up and an upgraded to standard 12-volt electrical system that will be much easier to get part for should it need future electrical work.
