EV Demand Dropping Like a Stone

as i watch this...... im dumb founded why no entity pro or con electric propulsion.... makes a podcast or mainstream report on why toyota is not in the ev market.
not sure about podcasts - but an "interview" with Toyota top management was out couple weeks back.
and they said it in plain blunt words: the current battery technology is not suitable for the 'whole' sector - and they would not get involved in an unripe technology that cannot meet the needs of the consumer.

also interesting to note, Toyota has been one of the bigger researchers/developers of the solid state battery. double the energy, fully recharge in ten minutes. there's still some technical issues . . .

Toyota has been VERY VOCAL and SKEPTICAL of pure EV cars as the solution.

Given the amount of resources and costs that go into pure EVs, Toyota has been very critical of the recourse use and has been quick to point out that Hybrids, using ICE engines + an electric assist and a modest battery and be made MUCH less expensive than a PURE EV, making them far more affordable and able to reach a much larger customer base. Further, the single battery in a PURE EV is about as large as the batteries in 30 Hybrid vehicles. The math on all this is pretty simple, Hybrids for the masses would dramatically reduce the "carbon footprint" of tens of millions of drivers while PURE EVs can only reduce the carbon footprint of a few hundred thousand drivers over the same timespan.

The only reason Toyota is not a player in EV's is because they were wrong about what the customer wants.
Ever price a Prius battery? Many go to salvage because of this when they are old. Plus talk about a fugly car....

Toyota was on top. But the threat of Tesla is real and growing. They will say anything to keep their business model relevant.
Did you hear Toyota recalled 1.9 million RAV4's to fix batteries that in hard cornering can move and damage the battery causing a
fire? Just hot off the press. Ya, Toyota has it going on... Not.

BTW a gasoline car is 140 times more likely to catch fire than an electric car. Interesting stat from Kelly Blue book.

Is Toyota a God or something? Since when can they speak for an entire sector?
Tesla is kicing their ever lovin' ass. So what can they say but what they hope to become? Solid state batteries are impossible as of today.
Just because Toyota "says" is pure horse hockey. Was matters today is what is available TODAY.
And Toyota hasn't got it.

...
Toyota is looking at the global market. Gas cars will overwhelmingly dominate sales in India, most of Asia, South America, Africa and Central America for at least the next 20 years. Westernized nations are mandating the change to EV, but customers still prefer gasoline powered vehicles over EVs by a very wide margin. Even in the politically insane US, EVs are just a fraction of the total vehicles sold, they are sitting on dealer lots unsold, they are even getting discounted, below market financing, etc.

I tried to watch that video, but no way can I take weird combover hair guy seriously.
What a freaky looking clown.
If someone wants to be taken seriously, then present yourself seriously.

The EV, in its current form, can/will work for x percentage of the market.
of that x percent population, nothing even close to 100% can afford an EV.

the market will reach saturation, and then stall, until the technology improves.

There is a reason why, some120 years ago, the EV lost competition against the IC motor. Despite quantum leaps in the technology of EV's, those reasons still exist.

Without the government mandates, rebate and debates, the effort to move to EV's of today would be a total failure.
