Electric Vehicles after hurricane

(From a FL resident) With the recent hurricane that blew through Florida we all have learned a few things about electric vehicles and electric bicycles and their batteries. When they get wet… they explode like a bomb! The attached photo is a next door neighbor’s Electric Vehicle. There are dozens of these torched cars around our area.

It’s torched because the batteries exploded because the rising water got the batteries wet (that simple) and it could happen to you or a loved one.

Christine and I are displaced from our house (it was completely flooded) and are staying with friends. Their electric bicycles (4 of them) have all exploded in the last two days. Each time almost setting their home on fire. Stay away from these electric vehicles and the electric bikes.

Would this issue impact hybrids the same as full electronic vehicles?

There has to be a way to eliminate this issue.
Does an electric car battery have just two main terminals so that one could remove the Pos and the Neg and prevent this issue?

Might want to look a little closer at that picture. Eight lug wheels? Engine block? I think you're looking at FUD.

It was also towing a boat.????
Front bumper shows as an air intake for radiator cooling.
Also, there appears to be no flood damage to surrounding property.

From what I see, looking at the rims, seating, springs... it looks like it "was" a 3/4 ton Chevy truck.

When it comes to any EV if the battery gets wet and shorts out they can burn. some of the NI-Cad and other ones aren't combustible but still get hot when shorted and burn other stuff.

Here's a picture of an actual EV that's been in the flood. Be skeptical of almost everything you read on the internet.
