Hello to all our fine members, i iam hoping some one can solve a little mystery for me. I have a 1982 Bombi with the 4cyl. ford engine and it starts fine but as i start pushing snow with it i lose all electrical power. I then let it sit for a few minutes and it resets and runs for a very short while then it does it all over again. I would really appreciate any help that may be available, sincerly, Curt.

when you say it looses all power what do you mean every thing like head lights blower and starter or is it just the iginition shutting down.

I'm gonna go with bad battery cables, or connections, first. They overhead and impede current flow.

Clean and remount them.

Could be the main circuit breaker (if it has one) tripping then resetting after it cools off.

Hello Don, i lose everything it is like i pulled the battery cable off the post, it is like shutting off a main breaker or switch.

Yes, it could be. i am not familiar with the vehicle to say. My advice is generic.

Bad corroded battery cables will do that. Especialy the grounbd. White corrosion at the connectors or just completely degraded cables. The heat expands the non conductive corrosion and the circut path is interrupted.

That said Jim,,,,it does sound like a circut breaker action. But again bad cables, or a loose connector , could be the reason for the amp draw that blows it.

i have a bombi in my back yard and know of no breakers in it i would look at battery termanals, see if they get hot if so clean them. also check for corrosion at the starter power lug all your supply power for the dash should come off of that lug your charge wire from the alternator will also go back to it. last ly how is it grounded alot of people ground to teh body you could be loosing the ground between the tub and engine a ground strap between the tub amd engine will cure that.

look at the conector between cab and chassis the pins are not the best and sometime pins are burnt or are rusty wiggle connector while running see if it cuts out

Good thaught i have seen this on a lot of fire wall plugs in the automotive world

your battery is under the seat .what is the ground connected to? mine is grounded to a bolt on the transmission. that would be a good place to look for loose cables.

Hello Jim, my ground wire is also bolted to the tranny and it is solid. When the power is restoring there is a clicking noise like a breaker reseting.
