Effects of a snowless winter

Our entire ecosystem up here revolves through the seasons. We have lots of lakes and forests. What do you need in order for things to come to life in the spring? Water. And in the winter time, that water that normally falls in the form of snow didn't come. Many were thankful. I wasn't. We are now seeing the effects of a snowless winter in northwestern Ontario. The highway west of us was closed briefly due to a forest fire. I'm supposed to be paddling in to this lake next week with my scout troop. Look how low the water is. Wow.

Lake Superior may well be facing a water shortage but not all areas have this problem.

California is under drought conditions, so say agencies and media sources.

It is a man made emergency in California?

There was plenty of snowfall in the region. The politicians opened the dams and let the water flow to the ocean. That created a shortage for farmers in the central valley and the southern residents who reside in LA and other populous areas. There has been plenty of rainfall too.

Oddly, "fact checkers" say that the drought is natural. Facts say otherwise. The media refutes the facts. Here are 3 sources that refute the "fact checkers" and argue differently. None of this helps Western Ontario and Lake Superior or the other small lakes in the province. But it does show that some areas get water, others may not.
