Ebay ST-4 wide

that looks to be a good start to a new project. funny I thaught all four band models were track masters, and the snow master name didn't arrive until the big wheel models

may need fuel and a battery only, but the 1200 motor won't last long with the load those big tracks will create in snow.

that's a lot of money for a project like that one. plus more money for shipping I don't think I could justify shipping that one here if it were free. I have to admit I think those snowmasters look cool and some day I want one. but it won't be that one.

Am I missing something here, both the machines we are talking about are owned by the same person? The parts one is $4995 and the one on e-bay is at about $1100. Both adds say the guy sold the farm, toys must go.

That is what I am trying to figure. The CL ad one even has a pic of the serial tag for the one on Ebay? To far for me to go; but WTF? is this a scam? on one? or maybe both?

You can see the eBay unit (with the white external fuel tank) in this pic from the CL add... They must be from the same location and seller...

He has both units, I sent him a question. He is hoping for 12 for the eBay unit and 5 for the craigslist unit.

Dont overthink this... Anyone has a right to sell anything whichever way possible...

as any BUYER has an option of actually "seeing" the item before picking it up and actually paying for it. There are way to "stop" the payment on eBay, or finding a trustworthy person to go and check it out before actually going through with the purchase.

To many scams are due to many naive people who are just plain dumb and really NEED to be taught a lesson or two.

Now lets just buy them and have someone post up a restoration process pictures here - that thing would look awesome being properly restored, probably be worth close to $30-40k completely redone, ha?

Nikson: Looks like the perfect project for YOU. Looking at your previous restoration on the imp this is well within your skill. You did a great job on that one, lets see the ultimate ST-4 restore/

I have to agree with Cidertom here....

Nikson would do himself a favor if he would just try a Sweedish snow cat out once. Snow Tracs are a great machine.... He could rebuild one over the top for sure!!

OK: So my experience with snowcats (as an owner) is now at 10 months. I gotta ask "motor won't last long" this machine in the listing was made when? It's still there?? I'm repowering my ST with a dual port 1600 instead of the single port 1600 it had. My VW expert says I should expect better performance.. But the single port I have was rated at ... the same rating the dual port has. So mark me as confused.

I always thought the dual port 1600 made about 15-20hp more than the single port engines. Maybe I am wrong? The single port 1600 is 50hp the dual is 65hp is what I thought...

Kirk: You are almost certainly right. I'm just going by the different listings I've seen since acquiring the ST4. The initial est was 40 HP(looking at the carb) , then the mech looked at the aktiv literature I had and upped it to 50 hp. But other posts stated up to 55 hp. The original "1600" I had, had an industrial carb that was the same as for the 40 HP bug. Yes it was the original engine, the paper work matched. But the ...

I'm so confused, but then that is to be expected.

I suspect that the thread has been hijacked and we should resume later in a more approprite forum

Hey now... Gang up on me to DARE to restore one... :)

Actually - I've definitely given it a thought. I'm almost done with the Cushman Trackster, so far coming out like I was hoping it to be, with just minor hick ups along the way - totally normal with a restoration like these - but a wide-track would be best for our snow in Oregon Cascades.

I'm still looking to get a nice SuperImp 1450 with a flat bed & a plow in the front - so I can put on my custom rear cab with kitchen setup for cooking on the go...

After the Cushman Trackster and then the restoration of the Super IMP 1450, its about time to think seriously to restore a SUPER Snowtrac.
It is a requirement of the fanatical members of this Forum.

It went less than I was going to bid. I held off due to a Master of Science program eating at my soul.

I felt that was a deal. There was a lot of parts there.

the 1600 vw motor for the vans made around 55 to 60 hp the dual port has some advantages. first, heads are readily available, and second is the dog house oil cooler and an upgraded oiling system. the single port heads will make better low end power, with free free flowing dual ports making better top end power I don't see any significant advantage of one over the other other than I like using the engine I already fave a fan intake scoop for.
