Eating Crow

A while back I made the statement that I wouldn't buy any GM products, well I did...

I bought a 2011 GMC Sierra half ton.

OK, now the part where I should have stuck with my rant....

The reason I bought it was that it was suppose to get 15 in town and 21 on the highway (Up to 25 MPG). My "Pre" Obama 2004 2400HD GMC has a 150,000 miles on it since I bought it new, doesn't leak a drop of anything and gets about 15+- MPG, heck of a good truck.

So I bought this new one about two months ago and have about 6,000 miles on it already. The best I have gotten on the highway is about 18 MPG, which is far less than was advertised. I took it to the dealership with the complaint that is was getting sub standard mileage as advertised.

After them having the truck for a day, they told me it was working just fine, it only get that "High Mileage" when it is 70 degrees or better outside..

Well I live in the interior of Alaska (where they sell these trucks), we get a few weeks of that "70" degree weather a year here... Seems that is a smack of fraud, but since it is Government Motors, there is really nobody to complain to.

I was correct in my ranting, they have moved the numbers to make them look good, but don't deliver anywhere near what their claims are.

This will be my last GM product though....For real this time!:glare:

Sounds like my Durango, I'm lucky if I get 13 mpg out of it. If you can get non-ethanol gas then you will get better mileage. Whenever I fill up on real un-subsidized gas I get much better mileage.

Well we don't have the ethanol gas here as of yet... Would hate to see what it gets with that.

My daugher bought a KIA Sportage, does exactly what it was advertized as...

My son bought a Toyota Tundra and it too is doing just what it was promoted as doing.

Crap - you're going to be in the shitty mileage club with me. The only thing that saves me is that my Durango is three years old and I've only put 20,000 on it.

The best mileage is no mileage!

Sorry to say but that is the way it is with the mileage ratings. They are based upon certain conditions.

65 miles per hour maximum, warm weather and gasoline rather than ethanol.

Right now they are dumping more than 10% of ethanol in the regular gas. Mileage sucks and the price is going out of this world around here. $3.46 for reg. and diesel is at $3.99.

No one is "dumping" more than 10% ethanol in their gasoline. Unless they want to break the law.

Could be refering to E15, but that one has to be labled as such. It is a contraversial blend for some newer cars, and will never catch on I don't think.

Maybe we should be importing more oil from Libia, our warships are on there way right now. Wonder what that is going to cost? Oh well I guess we don't care anymore. Just keep pumping our money into the mid east, and none into ethanol if that is what you like. The towel heads love you!!

Maybe we should toss out the ass-wipe in the White House and get a president who doesn't pander to the muslims and dictators, while denying us the right to drill for our own oil in our own country. And we need to flush the anti-American EPA down the toilet along with Obama, along with at least a dozen other out of control agencies that are anti-business/anti-American.

It is a bit obscene that they have no real energy policy other than a drilling ban. Claiming that oil is the energy of the "past" with nothing to replace it just shows how disconnected the White House is.

Policy should be to drill, build new refineries and give heavy tax breaks for anyone working on new forms of energy, build hydro and nuke power plants.

Just total insanity is all that has come from both parties and the White House.

And I don't see anythng getting better either anytime soon.

Oh wait, Obama did cancel the Shuttle program so we can bum rides from the Russians to the space station! We will be third World before you know it with National Health Care we can't afford!
