Yes you should use some thing or you can overload your alternator lithium can accept charge faster than lead acid and alternators aren't setup to protect them from overloading lithium can do.

dc to dc converter can be set to limit the draw off the chassis system or a LI-bim 225 device that cant be set but are good.

I'd go to the book of faces RV solar for dummies or victron powered camper, or rv solar connections for diyers

my camp has ben off grid since 1983 and i do quite a few repairs of camp and RV systems on the side.
