Dumb Luck

So I am driving my 1972 Tucker 543A from my cabin to where I park my truck. I shut it down, step out onto the front left track, and it seems pretty slack. I check, and the boggie wheel is missing! I walked back about a quarter mile, found the wheel but no lug nuts to be seen all the way back to the cabin.

Somehow the Tucker ran on the boggie rim for the quarter mile, and I didn't throw the track while stopping and backing. As I said, dumb luck.

Grabbed some tools and snowmobiled back to the Tucker. Broke the track, reinstalled the wheel, and made it back to the cabin with the Tucker. I had not been checking the lugs, being lazy and not bothering to knock the snow off the wheels to check them.

Another recent thread was discussing track jacks. I used mine, but also use a fence stretcher to assist, and it worked well.

Ok, I am a dummie, but check those lug nuts!

ps It's snowing hard, about 28 inches on the ground.

You seemed to take care of your problem well. It's good to be ready for a trail side fix!:thumb:
