“Duck Dynasty” to Get New Cast Member, Pastor Alan Robertson

While he may not sport the trademark Robertson beard or don camouflage religiously, Alan Robertson could not be happier in joining his family on their hit show Duck Dynasty. Or should we say, Pastor Alan Robertson.

Alan is the eldest son of Phil Robertson, the family patriarch and founder of the Duck Commander brand. When the rest of the Robertson boys teamed up for starring roles in Duck Dynasty, Alan abstained. According to the New York Post, he had been worried about fame affecting his two daughters and granddaughters. That has not stopped the pastor from accompanying the family on speaking tours, which brought him in contact with the downside of fame. Alan recalls one incident when an overzealous fan accosted him on the way to the restroom, making him feel threatened. Since then he keeps his security team updated on his comings-and-goings, just like the rest of the Robertsons.

Tried watching this show the other day. Switched it off in a hurry. I guess I must be culturally challenged and behind the times as I just don't get why it is on.

I find the show refreshing.

No, its not a favorite in my home. My daughter loves it. My wife will tolerate an episode or two, and I won't look for it on TV but if its on I will sit and watch. But it does break the mold. It shows family values, it shows family dynamics, it shows a love of God and faith.

I love the fact that they end each episode with a prayer while sitting at the dinner table eating together as a family.
