Gone But Not Forgotten
Was cleaning on the pool this morning when the wife came and got a water sample. She wanted me to go along to the doc with her and I needed a few things so we left. Had a hard storm hit as we were getting back. When I opened the front windows I looked at the pool and realized I had left the hose running when we left. Pool is filled to the top of the skimmer and overflowed for a while.:hammer:

Done something similar more than once.

My pool has an overflow line that stops the water from completely flooding the pool area. It dumps into the flower bed around the pool and then into the yard. Several times I've forgotten about the hose filling the pool and the chlorine in the water has killed some shrubs and grass in the yard. I never did tell my wife why her shrubs died. Some times it's better to just keep quiet. :whistling::whistling::whistling:

I have a trench filled with 4" perforated pipe and clean washed stone For the backwash so it just follows that on down to the pasture. I took my time when I built the pad the pool sits on and it is elevated from the rest of the yard so any water runs away real well. I am sure it don't help her shrubs either but I don't mention it.

Well… I’m not going to say who it was but this guy I know was backwashing the sand filter when he got a phone call. One thing led to another and soon he and his Son were at the gun range. When this guy got home the pool was all but empty.

You know he felt silly.

I'd like a pool. Empty, full, not fussed.

I guess I'm just looking for a hole in the ground that I can fill with water!

What is it about women and pools????:unsure::unsure:

I've had one since I came to the States in 1985. It was great fun for the first couple of years and I really enjoyed it but it slowly, not all that slowly, became WORK and EXPENSE. A lot of work and a lot of expense. I'd fill in the one we have now and turn it into a garden but "she who must be obeyed" won't allow it and I'm way too smart to pick a fight that I can't possibly win.:biggrin::biggrin: OK, I like it a little bit for a couple of days a year but the rest of the time ......

A pool is a lot like a boat. It's something that a friend should own and let you borrow and use any time you want.:biggrin:

Got to agree with Frank on that. Handle on the damn filter valve just broke while I was backwashing. None available local so i had to order online and the $15 plastic handle will cost $11.60 to ship on a 3 day delivery. That is after I just dropped over $100 on chemicals yesterday.:hammer:

My worst one was when I had to replace the pump motor. It was expensive in itself but I was expecting that. The problem started when I started to take the old one apart. There's an about 3" bolt that holds the impeller in place and man, I couldn't break that sucker free. Then it dawned on me ... it's a left handed threaded bolt. Of course, by the time I figured it out and got it loose, I'd chewed up the head of the bolt pretty bad. Not a problem though, I'd just pick up a new one when I picked up the new motor. That was until I saw the price they wanted to charge for a new one ... $15 ... for a 3" bolt. When I asked why, I was told it was because it was left hand thread and required special machining, blah, blah, blah. I let them keep it. When I got home I put the head of the old bolt on the grinder and it's still in use today.

It's just that everything for a pool costs about 4 times what it really should. It pisses me off. Maybe I should move this to the rant section.:biggrin::biggrin:
