Dogs and Porcupines

For the third time in my dogs life I had to spend some time plucking 20-30 quills out of his face today. This time I was out in the woods so I had to use the multi-tool. I think I have to carve one more point out this evening but he is no worse for the wear. He always seems annoyed with me for holding him down and pulling the quills out.

I think most dogs would learn after the second time, and I thought he had but it's been at least 6 years since the last one so maybe he forgot. :pat:

Anybody have a dog that's been stuck more than three times?

The first was by far the worse. He must have got mad and bit the porcupine a second time after getting stuck 'cause he had them way deep in his mouth.

Of course it happened at around 6:00 pm on a Halloween night when I lived even farther out in the sticks. I think I spent about three hours rolling around on the floor with him and a pair of needle nose pliers.

He had the completely through his pallate. Man that was a long bloody night.

OK, just seeing if you remembered this post...

Yup, I remember that one. I kind of kicked myself afterwards 'cause I had my camera phone with me. I should have snapped a picture but I guess I didn't want my best friend suffering any more than he had to. I had to hold his moth open so he didn't drive any quills in deeper.

Next time (there will probably be a next time) I'm going to remember the camera!

I'd say that is so sore for the poor dog. We don't have porcupines over here. Thank god!! My dogs would be covered.
