Does the Riddex gizmo work?

I just saw the add on TV again for Riddex Plus, which they are selling for $29.95 + $8.95 for two. The website says it creates an irritating environment for pests inside your walls to drive rodents and insect pests our of your house.

Does it work? Has anyone used them?

I'm skeptical. They say it uses patented Digital Pulse Technology, but that it will not interfere with electronic equipment. But it seems to me (an electrical engineer, BTW) that if you put large enough digital pulses on the power lines to drive bugs batty, surely the noise will get through the power supplies of cheap radios and TVs.

Or did they mean audio digital pulses, not electrical? Well that would drive your dogs and cats batty too. What frequency does this work at?

I have had one of those things plugged in for years.
Don't know if it works or not.
I havn't seen any crabs.

One of out local TV stations did a segment on these things. They put one in a tank with a bunch of bugs and switched it on ..... the bugs crawled right over the top of it. They didn't act as if they knew it was there. The conclusion was that they didn't work and to spend your money on some good bug spray. At least that way you get the satisfaction of watching the little buggers go belly up.

You'll kill more bugs with a pointy pair of shoes.

(When I was a boy they were called PFC's)

Integrated Pest Management practices are the most effective way for dealing with insects.

It is a scam!!

My name is William Anderson. I am a consumer protection lawyer who lives and works in Washington, DC. After speaking with experts and reviewing industry literature, I do not believe that riddex products work as advertised. The law firm that I work with (Cuneo Gilbert & LaDuca, LLP) is investigating this product for a potential lawsuit. I would like to speak with anyone who has purchased this product about their experience. I can be reached at 202-789-3960. Thanks in advance for your time.

Best,
Bill
